I've heard this "patience is a virtue" junk all my life. I'm happy to say I have no virtue, no scruples, and no desire to wait too long for anything. In my humble opinion instant gratification takes too long!

Do any of you guys remember the Looney Toons movie? If I'm not mistaken it came on one of the premium channels like Showtime or HBO. I don't remember the name of it, but it had like a wishing well or something where all the characters went to where they would toss money in and go through these crazy dreams??A negative mind will never give you a positive life.

Re: Off Topic 2011
I mentioned this in the Tourney commentary thread but it flew by so fast I don't think anyone noticed. My roommate was talking about her ex boyfriend who is a Duke fan (this was when Michigan was about to play Duke in the Tourney) and I asked how in the world he became a Duke fan. She had no idea and he had zero ties to Duke. I asked who else he liked and she said Yankees. I was like hmmm I think I've figured it out, dare I venture to guess he's also a Lakers fan? She said yup.Wolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

Yes! So I'm not crazylol. Shiz, what the hell was that movie!??
I might be confusing cartoons, but I know I loved the sequence, I think it was Foghorn, where he had the little rooster dude with the sunglasses that was trying to hit on all the hens.A negative mind will never give you a positive life.

Re: Off Topic 2011
Admittedly I was a Cowboys bandwagoner when they were winning Super Bowls in the 1990s, but I've stuck with them, for better or worse. College sports, I obviously follow UVa, they're my school and family ties as well.
I've never really had a favorite NBA team, however, at least not since David Robinson retired from the Spurs. I enjoy watching dominant big men play, so my favorite players right now include Dwight Howard, Tim Duncan, and Dirk Nowitski, but I don't really feel an attachment to the Magic, Spurs, or Mavericks. To make matters more confusing, when I play NBA2K11 I play as the Hornets because Chris Paul on that game is absolutely ridiculous.Comment

Re: Off Topic 2011
I know too many. One of my friends who is 23 years old has been a Cincinnati Bearcats basketball fan as long as I've known him which is 15 years. Well a year ago I see pictures on Facebook of him wearing an Xavier hat (Cincinnati's local and biggest rival), and he went to a few XU games and rooted for them last season. What's funny is now that the Bearcats are decent again he is back to wearing UC stuff.
Bandwagoners suck, but when you start rooting for a rival that is just nasty.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

Now that I'm living in Chicago I've been following the Bulls and I went to my first NBA game over the winter. I like Derrick Rose and a few other Bulls players so that helps. But I wouldn't say I'm a fan of any NBA team.Ohio State - Reds - Bengals - Blackhawks - BullsComment

Re: Off Topic 2011
The one thing I never got and to this day hate, is the argument that people are bandwagon fans if they don't like all the local teams. To me, as long as you're an actual fan and don't ditch them when they suck, you're good.
-As far as baseball, I only started watching baseball a lot in 2004, and that summer we took this PAL trip to an O's/Devil Rays game. I was always a Miguel Tejada fan, and after seeing OPACY in person, I was sold.
-In football I was a really big Marshall Faulk/Torry Holt fan, so I rooted for the Rams, but from like '04-'08 I really only paid attention to the playoffs and Super Bowl. When I was originally going away to college I wanted to pick a team close to there so I could watch, so I picked the Browns. That worked well
-Basketball is kinda meh, because I hate the NBA because it's just one big gambling operation. I used to love Shaq, Penny Hardaway, Shawn Kemp, and Gary Payton growing up so I rooted big time for the Sonics and Magic. I still root for the Magic because of J.J., and I root for the Thunder too, but if the Sonics ever come back I'll probably go with them.
-I've always been a Flyers fan. Most of my family are, but my aunt and her then boyfriend/now husband really got me hooked.
-I've been a Duke fan since I was like 6 or 7...my grandfather would always get these Sports Illustrated highlight tapes, and one of them had Christian Laettner's shot against Kentucky on it, so I decided that was good enough reason to pick them.
-For college football, I've recently started rooting for Duke in that, but I'm still a Florida fan. It was basically another case of me not having a team and picking one. I liked the colors, always liked the mascot as a kid, and really liked the Urban Meyer hire.
-Soccer's been the big problem because most of the time I root for the teams because of the players and not because of the team themselves. I've stuck with City but will still root for Dempsey and Drogba regardless of what team they play for.Comment

Re: Off Topic 2011
I'm not a big fan of people liking different college football and basketball teams. I like the University of Tulsa, not just Tulsa football or just Tulsa basketball. It's annoying when people like Duke or UNC basketball and Notre Dame or USC football, although the USC fans have diminished thanks to Reggie Bush.Follow me on Twitter: @ADice15Comment
