 Re: Off Topic 2011

Dude, wayy too many numbers and percentages of percentages flying around in here today..

Anyway I'm at the school library trying to get some work done in a lobby area upstairs that has a few computers and is usually pretty quiet. But today there's this one kid sitting on one of the couches here and he must be on Skype or something cause he's on his computer and has headphones on and is just talking out loud to what seems like himself. The problem is he's being loud as **** and I have a paper to write. I wanna slap him so bad.Patriots

These are '09 numbers that i've found from CNBC. Some of these are not in Europe.

Austria: 25 vacation days, 13 for holidays
Brazil: 30 Vacation Days, 11 for holidays
France: min. 30 vacation days, 10 for holidays
India: only 12 vacation days but made up with 16 holidays
Lithuania: 28 vacation days, 13 holidays
Russia: 28 days leave, 12 holidays
UK: min. 28 days off but only 8 holidays
Poland: min. 26 days off, 10 holidays
Greece: 25 days off (though i'm sure that's changed due to their situation now)
Singapore: min. 14 days off, 11 public days
Finland: min. 30 days off, 10 for holidays
Denmark: min. 25 days off, 9 for holidays
Switzerland: min 20 days off, 9 for holidays
New Zealand: min. 20 days off, 11 for holidays
South Korea: min 19 days off, 15 for holidays
Taiwan: min. 15 days off, 13 for holidays
Hong Kong: 14 mandatory days off, 12 holidays

By contrast Canada and the US has the fewest with Canada only having a min. of 10 days off with 9 holidays and the US typically having 15 days off with 10 public holidays.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

I haven't had an off day since April 4th. So everyone in this thread needs to cease with the nasally bitching.

At my job we accrue leave, and it's dependent upon you to schedule/take it. Through an entire year I accrue about 20 days of leave. However, I can mostly only take it a few days, to a week or two at a time, given my job/responsibilities.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

 Re: Off Topic 2011

No clue, I'm guessing since those are mandatory for the most part that there's some kind of shifting whereby one group gets a block of time off like a week or two and then another group, so on and so forth. How are those mandatory vacations sanctioned/executed?

 Re: Off Topic 2011

Usually businesses just close down shop.

It's going to be a foreign concept to any American/Callinghambacon Eater but Europeans just have a different philosophy to life than NA's do which goes back to certain economic and philosophical thoughts *and also political thoughts that I cannot get into on this board*.

Needless to say, let's just say Americans are more prone to working for more stuff whereas Europeans don't necessarily care about having the newest things, they value time over material things. Thus why they take such long vacations/holidays and Americans do not.Too Old To Game Club
