I've been trying to find news stories online, and apparently the driver and passenger of the SUV were checked out at another hospital and no arrests were made. I'm not sure what's going to happen now, all the articles mention him (my sister's bf) being under the influence. So I'm guessing no legal action will be taken.

It's definitely going to be a pretty rough few weeks though, with all this going on and trying to make sure my sister can keep it together.

If their lights were off like you said, I would at least explore the legal options. My friend was under the influence when he was hit, but so was the driver. He ended up getting all his hospital bills paid and a settlement on top of it. Sounds like the other driver wasn't drunk if they got checked out and released. Tough situation all around.
