Re: Off Topic 2011
I agree...yet I always find myself tipping at the end.I hate the concept of tipping. You're already paying them to do their job, why should u add extra? If they deserve more, their boss should pay them more. I don't like tipping servers at restaurants either, I figure they should just make a higher base wage. My friend is a long time server though and she told me if there was no tipping at restaurants everyone would get ****ty service so I go along with that one...

Just to let you know, as a server, we don't get paid by our place of employment to do our job. We do, technically, but we do not see checks (most of the time) because we get $2.63 an hour and that goes to taxes.I hate the concept of tipping. And, as a warning, we remember faces and we share stories - if ya'll plan to go back to a restaurant more than once or twice, I'd tip at least a normal level.

Re: Off Topic 2011
That's the point though, you SHOULD get more than 2.63 an hour, my suggestion is to go at least 7 per, and not rely on tips/service. It's your JOB that should rely on your service, not your tips. I actually tip pretty well because I'm terrified of poor service, or unspeakable things done to my food.Just to let you know, as a server, we don't get paid by our place of employment to do our job. the grunt work? he/she brought me my stuff... if it's that difficult just leave the food, drinks, and condiments near the kitchen and I'll fetch it myself.Wolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

Yeah, I'm in that industry as well, and while the servers at my place of employment do get paid by the company, it's significantly less than what the other store positions get. A good portion of what they actually earn is the tips.Just to let you know, as a server, we don't get paid by our place of employment to do our job. And yes - they DEFINITELY remember who tipped what - I can vouch for that for sure.Comment

7 dollars an hour, with little to no tips on top, and 98% of the restaurant/sever force quits. I sure as **** know I would. Absolutely not worth getting paid that little. That's the point though, you SHOULD get more than 2.63 an hour, my suggestion is to go at least 7 per, and not rely on tips/service. Yup. Now - I don't know a single person, having been in the industry for five years now, that would ever do anything to physically harm a person's food or anything, but if we remember that you were rude, needy, or a poor tipper, I promise your service is going to suck, the person won't care and won't bother getting refills or cleaning dirty plates away or any of that stuff, they'll make you wait and won't work nearly as hard to make sure you actually enjoy your dinner.
And the opposite it true. We also, always, remember who the good tippers, or nice and easy-going tables are and I promise you that those tables enjoy their night's out a lot more frequently than the others.Comment

You were responding to tipping movers. And you can get the stuff yourself at McDonalds. That's the point though, you SHOULD get more than 2.63 an hour, my suggestion is to go at least 7 per, and not rely on tips/service. Re: Off Topic 2011
I've always considered myself a good tipper at restaurants, usually at least 20% sometimes 30%. Obviously if the service sucks they're not getting that much, but as long as there are no outrageous service issues its always a good tip from me.Patriots
