I had that happen to me once back in my single days. I posted about it in the old supporters off topic. But, to make a long story short girl 1 called and canceled a planned date. Girl 2 calls and wants to come over after dinner with friends however, she said she would have to call for directions to my apartment since she had only been there once. I give her the Ok. Girl 1 shows up later unannounced saying that she felt better and wanted to hang out. I turn my phone off hoping to passive aggressively avoid girl 2's call. Girl 1 and I are watching South Park and there a knock at my door. I go to the peep hole and say that I don't know who it is so, let's just not open the door and sit back down. Girl 1 opens the door and let's Girl 2 in. Hilarity ensues and it wasn't pretty.

Next Friday she'll have a job interview. The Friday after that she'll have a death in the family. The Friday after that she'll have a friend whose boyfriend just dumped her and she needs to be with her to support her.

so I drive all the way out to the ballpark (a good 35 minute drive) only to find out once I arrive that the game was cancelled because...wait for it...the other team only had 7 players.
How do you let that happen? All you have to do is ask a kid if he wants to play, have him sign a form, and get him the uniforms and he is good to go. The team I work for has at least 14 players, and they are always adding. And you're a high school coach, it's not that hard to find a kid. That's got to be kind of a bummer for the 7 that probably really wanted to play.
I remember going out to a soccer match where my older cousin was going to play, the same issue came up when we all arrived to the field... Instead of cancelling, both coaches agreed to have some folks on my cousins team go to the other side and they all held a friendly match.Comment

I was supposed to play in a baseball tournament in Auburn once.
They gave us bad information as far as the registration and we didn't have the proper documentation to play. They claimed we might not be the right age and such. It's complicated, but the other team we were scheduled to face looked about twice our age and I could have swore one had a goatee..
I was only in 7th grade.. lol.Comment
