So one of my teammates on our basketball team got kicked off for having pictures on facebook of him drinking (He's 18). Not 1 or 2 pictures but like a whole album, tagged and everything. A lot of our students think that this is "stupid" and an overreaction. (Mind you, he's been in trouble like this before, with underages and stuff). Just wondered what the fellow OSers thought about this, without starting a whole new thread. (School Board took this action, not our coach btw).

It's not stupid nor an overreaction, although I'm not surprised the students think that. It's the freaking law. Kid got what he deserved.

On to other things...
watching the big hockey game right now between UND and Minnesota, wish I could actually be there. I may be biased when I say this, but really, the Ralph Engelstad Arena is one of the most underrated sports venues around. If for whatever ridiculous reason you decide to visit Grand Forks, make sure you visit the arena and get to a Sioux hockey game.
The atmosphere is second to none and it is a gorgeous arena.

I don't think schools should penalize kids for things that happen off school property after school hours, but that's still pretty moronic.

I agree with this.

Really stupid for him to post the pics and he has no one to blame but himself, but it's not the school's place to enforce what he does off school property.

Yeah I wasn't really clear, he didn't post the pictures, but he was tagged in them. Not that it should matter.

I'm all for drinking my sixxer of Sweetwater Blue but for the love of God pre-gaming until midnight sucks. Every single person here is in favor of heading to the bars at mindnight.

Well, bars are open here until 4 AM on Friday/Saturday. Which is an hour more than most college towns. So it's somewhat legit, but I'm used to arriving at the bar at 11PM, not midnight.


I blame it on being in the eastern time zone. Oh well, almost time for car bombs
