For those who saw me mention the guy missing, last night.

They found his vehicle wrecked, tonight, with him still in the vehicle.

I don't know him very well, but I do feel for his family. So many people: friends, family, and those who didn't even know him came together to try to bring him home to his family and it's unfortunate that it turned out this way, but I had a bad feeling about it all along. That's all the details they have for now.. I know his family is heartbroken. It pains me just to read all the posts and stuff on facebook.

            Re: Off Topic 2011

Had a rather eventful Thursday evening. I found out a friend, whose boss is my dad, was going over to my parents' house for a drink in the early evening because she had to put one of her dogs down Thursday afternoon. I thought I would go over and have one too. So we meet there. My mom is a 45-minute drive away at my sister's watching my nieces and my dad is the only one there. Things are just fine until my dad says he was seeing double on the tv while the Louisville-Murray State game was on. I thought he was having an eye migraine or something. He hasn't been in the best of health the last few months though. 64-years old who has always been overweight but lost a lot of it lately due to chronic back, hamstring, shoulder, and knee pain to go along with carpal-tunnel in one of his hands. I think that's caused a bought with depression a bit too.

Anyway, the vision problems didn't go away after about 15 minutes. He went upstairs to lie down. About 20 minutes later he calls for me. I go upstairs and he starts freaking out. He asks what's wrong with his foot, he doesn't know what is going on, starts yelling like crazy, and periodically thrashing about. He's sweating like crazy. I didn't know what to do but tried to keep him calm while I told my friend to call 911. Paramedics eventually show up. My dad is still tripping balls when they came upstairs. They check him out and happened to take his blood sugar. It was really, really low. Had to run downstairs and get orange juice and a peanut butter sandwich. After about 15-30 minutes he was fine again.

I feel awful that I had forgotten he was a diabetic. Normally when a low blood sugar episode is starting, he just feels tingly and knows to go get a Gatorade or granola bar or something. This was something he had never experienced. Couple the fact that he's lost weight with the dosage of his medication for the diabetes being set for his heavier weight and it was a recipe for something I hope to never witness again for the rest of my life. I was the epitome of calm throughout the whole thing but that was one of the scariest things I've ever experienced. The really scary thing...had my friend's dog not been put down, which would have not caused her to go over to my parents' house, which would have resulted in me not going over either, my dad probably would have ended up in a diabetic coma and/or worse. Once my mom got home from my sister's in that case, she might have found him dead. Not a pleasant thought at all.

Wow Slim, good to hear things worked out in your favor. No point in thinking about "what coulda been". Hope your dad improves and you don't have to endure another episode.

Wow bro that's terrible to hear, but I'm glad everything ended up turning out alright. At least now your dad knows some other symptoms that can occur and he can tell some of the signs and do something to stop another episode if they happen again. And like BuM said, don't think about what could have happened if you weren't there, just be thankful that you were and that your dad is ok now.

It's not like it would be hard to find her on fb (or the other way around for that matter), but I don't feel comfortable "friending" girls that I'm semi-interested in. I don't need access to all that info and neither does she.

Anyway, cracked my hand on a tree last night while I was mowing. Now I have this pretty cool looking scratch mark on my hand.

I've heard this "patience is a virtue" junk all my life. I'm happy to say I have no virtue, no scruples, and no desire to wait too long for anything. In my humble opinion instant gratification takes too long!
