 Re: Off Topic 2011

Speaking of tips. A few years ago I had a business meeting in NYC and a colleague of mine flew in from Heathrow to attend. On a good traffic day you could get to the hotel from the airport in like 30 minutes. Well my co-worker picked the wrong cab driver! He was on the radio, stopped for directions, you name it. He arrived about an hour and forty five minutes later. When he got out of the cab the driver said, "Tip?" And he replied, "Tip? Here's a tip, get a f****** road map!" And slammed the door. Comment

 A couple things

 1. I swear disc golf in Sports Champions is rigged. I get a great drive, then he gets a great drive. (This is in Gold Cup btw), I make a ridiculously good putt (70 feet or more - great for me), he comes back with a great putt. We tie in every hole until I make a mistake and I end up losing by 1. EVERY TIME.

 2. It actually feels good to be back in school. I will get back into a routine

Anyone here have diabetes? We're pretty sure I might have developed it, but I won't get the tests done until Friday or next week, at the earliest, depending on if the snow storm is bad on Friday.

Was just wondering if anyone had any experience with it.Comment

 Things I hate about IGN:
When they have a countdown like the Top 25 Comedies of All-Time that I'm reading now, they put the list on 25 separate pages. So stupid. Put like 5 of them on a page.Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn

 Re: Off Topic 2011

My dad has it, you really going to have to change your diet that is for sure. Cut back on alcohol, sodas, ice cream, candy. If you a coffee drinker, you can't use real sugar. Can't have syrup or honey either.

It really boils down to a case by case basis though. Alcohol damn near killed my dad last year. It wasn't until he went to a diabetic specialist in Chicago did they tell him it was the alcohol. And my dad was only drinking 2 or 3 beers on the weekends.

So he completely had to stop drinking. But ever since then his diabetes been under control.Comment

Alcohol doesn't really affect diabetes too much. It actually lowers your blood sugar. The thing is, diabetes puts more staring on your organs, so your liver is more prone to being damaged by alcohol than say, a non diabetic person. My dad has it, you really going to have to change your diet that is for sure. And to Beantown - if the test comes back and you do have it, be prepared to change your lifestyle. You won't be able to eat just any time you want to, you need ot check your sugar and make sure it is low enough to be able to eat. Working out is a huge thing (which I admittedly need to get much better with). If you work out all the time, your sugar will stay low almost all the time. When you work out, your sugar drops. However, there will also be a delay on when it drops sometimes, so you might wake up in the middle of the night on a Thursday night when you worked out on Wednesday morning. This happened to be during baseball season, my A1C (average blood sugar over 3 months) was so low and it was directly related to playing baseball and running every day.Eagles | Phillies | Sixers | Flyers

 Re: Off Topic 2011

I still prefer "we don't do much (or any) homework" or "we don't have a final (or even just a comprehensive final really)." I like tests, easy grade boosters and I never freak out like 95% of people the day before/of the test. Homework is always the killer for me. I hate when they give out too much busy work.

I have no idea how I'm going to write this paper at the moment. We have one day to research and write the rough draft.Last edited by TracerBullet; 01-19-2011, 03:36 PM.Originally posted by BlueNGoldI feel weird for liking a post about exposed penises.Comment

Yeah that is why I said it is a case by case basis. Because I know some diabetics who can drink the same amount they always have and then I know some like my dad who can't even have 1 beer anymore.Alcohol doesn't really affect diabetes too much. It actually lowers your blood sugar. The thing is, diabetes puts more staring on your organs, so your liver is more prone to being damaged by alcohol than say, a non diabetic person.

So make sure you get a good doctor and visit him like every other month or so. Not like it is the end of the world, the hardest thing would be changing your diet and sticking to it. But after a while you will get use to it.Comment
