I don't have much of a choice. I've lived in SW VA all my life. I'm ready for the move, but I imagine there will be a large amount of culture shock, moving to a large city.

I did go out to the NW this year, and REALLY enjoyed it. That's what I'm hoping for.

My wife and I had a simliar wedding 10 years ago. We paid about $7,500 in total.

      250 guests. 5 kegger.

Of course I had it catered by colleagues so that helped.

We got married in a big church but had the reception at my sister-in-laws backyard. (Huge yard designed for outside events)

My wife's dress was only 250.00.

We used Fresno State for the flowers/flourist(s)

And the photographer while not cheap was the lowest we could find.

We paid everything ourselves. Her parents had no buisness trying to pay for anything and my parents were struggling enough to even ask for help.

Photographers @ weddings are the worst.

$7500 isn't bad @ all. But that was 10 years ago too!

My wife and I got married 2 years ago. Everything included, it was around $6,000.00.

Deals on wedding-related things are out there, they have just got to be found.

I know that my family has already saved a good amount, and I'm trying to save a good amount. Her mom isn't in a position to save, but I'm sure her dad would help out if necessary. She really wants an outdoor wedding, and we're a touch worried about the Aprils around here.

I dunno, I've conditioned myself to oversave on this and if it comes down that I saved too much, we can just use it as spending money on our honeymoon or something.

Or on a down-payment for a house or townhouse.

I'm banking on the whole tradition of the bride doing most of the ceremony and the groom doing the reception.

Heh, living in the city... that probably won't work too well. We'll probably rent. Plus, I'm already working on saving some money for a down payment.

Yes, the NW seems nice. NYC is just too much, at least in Manhattan. I don't like this lifestyle at all. It's not what I want out of life.

Just going to finish up what I have to do here and pack up and head out to Plano.

I wish you the best of luck. I would strongly suggest living across the river and saving some money. (Jersey City, North Bergen, etc)

That NYC tax is killer. Also, rent here is RIDICULOUS.

We were too, and you and I live in about the same vicinity (for right now), but it turned out to be the best day so far that year. It was sunny and 72 degrees, couldn't beat it.

I'm trying to decide if I want to buy a new game today during my lunch break. Here's what I'm looking at NHL 12, Deus X, or Resistance 2 (just got into the series and finished the first one).

Im leaning that way at the moment but part of me still wants NHL 12 since I didn't get NHL 11 last year.
