I don't understand how it could be so bad.

For those of you guys who haven't hopped on the cool wagon, the complete series of Arrested Development is only 29.99 on Amazon.

The problem is, the trees. We(here in NJ) have had much worse(as far as magnitude/strength) snowstorms, but the fact that the trees still carried their leaves really did a number on things. I have never seen so many trees down in my life. You almost can't drive a block or two without seeing trees down. Luckily, I have power.

              Exactly.

The trees were still very soft and most had all their leaves.

CT where I am got the worst of the storm out of all the states. 67% of the state lost power and 55% of the state is still without it, 4th day now. And a LOT of towns are 100% out for up to 2-3 weeks they are saying.

The storm dumped 20 inches of wet heavy snow overnight crushing the previous October record of a paltry 1.4 inches.

Trees could not take it. Full sized toppled over. Ripping power lines out for miles and miles on main roads. Not even counting small residential neighborhoods all ripped apart, roofs trees hit. People are forced to cut their own way out and remove trees from roads because the towns or state is so hammered.

It is the worst I seen and heard. All night of the storm, transformers were exploding bright blue/green and heard trees toppling over and crashing. Praying the next one wasn't my roof.

It is bad. Looks like a tornado hit every single town. The day after the storm I went to check on my mom who normally lives 15 minutes from me. Took me over an hour to get to her due to all the detours that you had to self discover cause there was so many downed trees. There was no detour signs. Lines at the gas pumps are over an hour wait in most places. Nuts.

That's where I'm catching up on it.

Thanksgiving is the greatest because it's acceptable to just pour gravy on almost your entire meal. Also, my family has this dish where there's marshmallows on yams. When else can you get away with these things?

I think my Mom does marshmallow yams too. I don't like them.

I actually think Thanksgiving is pretty overrated food-wise. We have better meals for Christmas and New Years' for sure. I can't stand turkey or stuffing. Don't care for the yams or cranberry sauce or whatever.

I DO absolutely love honey ham, corn, cornbread, mashed potatoes, and gravy. Those, along with any other "oddities" we may have (my family likes to throw in some foods that don't particularly scream Thanksgiving) are what I usually eat. Last year we had lamb too, that worked out well lol.

Ooh, pumpkin pie. Oooooh pumpkin pie. Can't wait for THAT.

....thanks for the answer on the snowstorms. Crazy how trees having leaves still can make all the difference.

I used to hate pumpkin pie until about 3-4 years ago. My aunt makes hers from scratch and it's just amazing. Only thing in/on the pie that is pre-prepared is the whipped cream if you choose to have it. And unlike other pumpkin pies I've had, it really doesn't need the whipped cream.

Her apple pie is also amazing. My aunt's easily the single best cook I know. Thanksgiving and Christmas would be nothing without her.

I like any pumpkin pie. Made from scratch or bought from the store I'll eat it. I have half of a pie left in my refrigerator that we bought from Wal-Mart yesterday and it tasted great.
