Ouch Marino, good thing you didn't get hurt. I figure your insurance company will tell you the next steps.

Jeez, that looks bad, what kind of a car?

And, Insurance will tell you next step for sure. You are most certainly responsible for a deductible, so be ready for that.

EDIT: I read it wrong. If she's at fault, then no worries on your end. Her insurance will cover it.

Glad to hear your okay, Marino. Sad day for the car, though.

The most important thing is to admit to no fault and obviously getting her insurance info. Since your arm is sore, I would play it safe and check it out just to make sure nothing is wrong with it. Hopefully (she should) she'll have insurance that will cover your car and medical expenses.

I need someone to give me a dumbed down explanation.

I'm cooking chicken burgers, the label says the serving size is 1/4 lb. Raw, the chicken is 180 calories. Cooked, the chicken is 220 calories. I don't understand?

I researched online and the explanations aren't making sense to me. As water escapes while cooking, the calorie concentration becomes greater in a smaller portion. Wouldn't that STILL equal 180 calories though, just in a now smaller sized chicken patty?

You have to look at the composition of the serving. When you say 1/4 pound raw, the weight may consist of 0.15 lb actual meat and 0.10 lb water weight. However, it loses weight when cooking so when cooked that same 1/4 pound may now consist of 0.20 lb meat and 0.05 lb water weight so that there is now a greater quantity of meat vs water weight in the same than before cooking. Does that help?

I said a dumbed down explanation lol

Is this as simple as stating 1/4 lb of cooked meat will have more calories than 1/4 of raw meat?

I was taking the thought that if I make 1/4 lb patty and cook it, the calories on it would go from 180 raw to 220 cooked.

If you measured 1/4 pound of raw meat and cooked it, it would still have 180 calories.

To end up with 1/4 pound of cooked meat, you would have to start with a slighly larger amount of raw meat.
