And the Sears in my area, is the last anchor store in the old mall no one really goes to anymore, except for people like us who live close and chose to spend our money in our area.

So it really has no chance to survive.
The good old Machester Mall, I figured they would have torn that place down by now.

Yep, and being that we live at the beginning of Christmas Tree Lane it's right up the street.

I like taking my boys there on the weekends for "outings". They don't have nearly the stuff they used to,

That Sears is the last major store in there. That mall is history.

What it is going to really hurt is people who live in a small town like me who don't have a variety of stores. In my town and within a 50 mile area you only have the following stores:

Regular Kmart - no super Kmarts at all
Regular Walmart - no super Walmarts in this state at all
Crap load of mom n pop appliance stores
                    Independent privately owned Sears stores
                    Home Depot

                    That is it.

No Best Buy, no Target, no Gamestop, no Toys R Us, no Lowes, no Menards.

If you want find those stores you have to drive all the way passed Albany, New York, which is over an hour away. So it looks like I will be buying my games, movies and tvs online from now on since our local Walmart is terrible and really don't have an electronics department at all.

Really, our Walmart electronics SECTION, consist of 2 racks of DVDS, no Blu-Rays, 2 racks of country and pop CDs. 8 small 22 to 32 inch tvs on the wall, they don't sale anything bigger then 42 inches in our store at all, 1/3 of rack of pre-paid phones.

1 rack of gummy ear buds, 1 case that contains PS3, 360, Wii, PS2 games. Literally that case is the size of a PC desk. So chances are they won't even have the game you looking for if it is more then a month old.

No photo center.......no connection center, no contract phones, no cameras, no camcorders. no PC accessories at all, only PC they carry is the $300 e-machine, only laptops they carry are Acers, no HDMI cables, no audio/video cables, no universal remotes.

That is why I call it more of a section, then an actual department, they missing a ton of stuff at our local Walmart, which is why I refuse to shop there. And to make things worse.....they never have more then 1 person working in that entire side of the store. Literally that 1 person covers Electronics, Toys, Hardware, shoes and Pet food.

We have a mall like that in my area too. Was built back around 1975/6 when my parents first started dating. Used to go there a lot growing up, we'd have dinner at the food court then do whatever shopping we needed. I spent plenty of time at ElectronicsBoutique/Gamestop. Anchors included Sears, J.C. Penny, and Kaufmann's/Macy's. Place started declining around the time I graduated high school ('99) as newer, more modern malls opened in the Pittsburgh area. Nowadays it seems about half the stores are empty and a large portion of the parking lot is roped off and dark. My mom was there the week before Christmas and she got a parking spot right near the doors so that tells you how bad it's gotten. I imagine it'll be gone in the next couple years.

We don't do Fashion Fair. Except for holiday shopping of course and the ocasional Apple store visit. But to hang out, forget it. We leave it for the teenagers.

Kind of reminds me of the Brickyard Mall in Chicago.......I know they started gutting that mall back in the early 90s. I wonder if it is still there.

Hell I am old enough to remember there was no Bricktown, which was before you got to the mall itself. Only thing in Bricktown was Toys R Us and Sportsmart. Everything else was nothing but dirt and rocks all around it during the 80s.

And to add, when it's warm. I take them down to the Fulton mall! Right by the Grizzlies stadium. Still some great food to be had down there. And the in-door swap meet stores? You can get some cheap **** in them places. The old woolworths building houses a huge in-door swap. Good times my friend.
