For the most part that pretty much is true. lol. Certainly there are exceptions, though. But the current Jags team doesn't have the pieces to win a Super Bowl. You don't really have anything to base your prediction on except homerism and sheer hope that your team will draft well, sign Peyton Manning, etc.

I trust in Gene. He has drafted fantastically for the last two years, building the offense and defensive lines. It all starts with line play, and our defensive line should grow to be one of the tops in the league. There are parts of the defensive secondary that need to be replaced, but Derek Cox should be an anchor. The only piece on offense we need is a brand new quarterback, along with some developmental prospect wide outs. We have a Super Bowl RB and TE, along with two of the best young WRs Jacksonville has ever had in Thomas and Sims-Walker.

At the very least, the Jaguars arrow is pointing firmly up. This isn't the team that Shack Harris decimated with picks like Reggie Nelson, Matt Jones, and Reggie Williams. Gene knows what he's doing with the picks he has available for us. The last two years, everyone has forecasted the Jags to have a severe losing record. Instead, the Jags are one game under .500 for the last two years. The breakout is going to happen this year or next.

I'd take you up on that. I'd even sweeten it for you and say the Bills will make it further in the 3-4 years you outlined in your other post than the Jags will.

Having watched the Jags more than most neutral fans and being a fan of a team in the same division as them, I never expected the Jags to be terrible. They've had enough talent to pull out some wins against good teams, but nothing more than 8-9 wins. They're definitely on the upside and could possibly be in the Playoffs next year, but a Playoff team and a Super Bowl team are two different things. I don't see Super Bowl in the Jags future unless they get rid of Garrard and improve their defense.

I would be 100% shocked if the Jags don't draft for those areas this year. There are some good QB prospects out there, and defense has a high value in this league, and especially to the Jaguars.

I really think you guys are thinking I'm saying that they'll be SB team next year... that's not what I'm saying. I'm saying within the next 3-4 years, we'll be a Super Bowl team. Not next year. This team is young. They're just going to get better. Mark my words.
