Yeah getting involved in family drama blows, cause then if anything happens it becomes awkward for a long time.

I pushed down one of my step dads Aunt's and punched my cousin once, cause well let's just say they were "disrespecting" my mom and grandma and I just wasn't gonna have any of that. Now it's pretty super awkward/uncomfortable at any big family gatherings

Good point Chris, I had some step dad battles when I was younger, everything's cool now but we nearly came to blows several times.

Same here. Reminds me of a time when I was playing Guitar Hero II co-op on "Dead!" with a friend. I was playing the lead part on expert and singing the rhythm part, also on expert, that my friend was failing to play for a number of reasons, lol.

I was, and still am, a dork.

            I'm the same way.

I used to suck at Guitar Hero, but now I play everything on Expert.

There is the occasional song or two I can't beat on Expert, but the majority I can handle. I play better after a few beers, always.

He's been in the worst mood all day long and she tried to talk to him a few minutes ago, only to be told to get out of the bedroom and telling her stuff like he could hit her if he wanted to and such. We've never had house hold drama like this and I usually stay out of my parent's ****, but he's crossing the line when he threatens my mother. I don't mean to just hijack the off topic with some bull **** drama, but damn.

I hope he just takes his *** to bed and realises what a complete douche bag he has been. I swear, I don't want it to come to it, but I'm not afraid to step in the middle and tell him to back the **** up.

Threatening to do something and actually doing it are two totally different things, but even a severe threat won't fly around me.

With all this said, he's all talk and he's really not like this ever. I don't know what's gotten into him, but he would be better off straightening it up before he sees the worst of me.
Doesn't sound like a good situation. I hope it gets better.

How has your stepdad's mental health been recently from your perspective? I'm not an expert by any means, but I am aware of that a correlation exists between uncharacteristic outbursts of anger like this and depression.

I'm not around him as much, now that I'm older and I'm not home a lot.

He's always been a normal guy. They've been together for 11 years and nothing like this has ever happened. Yeah, he's always drank beer or what not, like most casual drinkers, but it's never had any effect what so ever on him. Which leads me to believe it's something else. Like I said, I stay out of their business, because they stay out of mine, but I still talk to my mom about it. She's more worried about his health than anything. There's no easy way to suggest a psychiatrist. He needs it, though.. because something weird has happened.

As far as the immediate drama, things are fine. He went to bed a while ago and I think it was for the best. I'm glad it didn't get any worse.

Speaking with first-hand knowledge, the only way you can really get someone go get help for mental health issues is if that person decides for himself that he has a problem and then subsequently decides he wants help for that problem. I dealt with depression for quite a while before I went and sought real help for it, and it wasn't until I went and got that help that I really started to, for lack of a better expression, get better.

Hopefully things get better on your end, though, regardless what avenue he chooses to take. Maybe just sleeping it off will help...?

Anyway, I've fought my dad once in what was one of the worst days of my life. I was in high school. To make a long story short... my parents came home and caught my friends and I partying, alcohol bottles and trash everywhere. My dad flipped ****. Pretty sure he had been drinking too because he went way overboard. We got into an argument and things escalated. He took my friends 360 and smashed it on our driveway(don't think he knew it wasn't mine though) and that's when things got way out of hand. A few punches were thrown before my mom broke it up. Both of us were in the wrong. Fortunately my dad is one of my best friends and all was cool the next day.

EDIT: When I say all was cool, I mean we talked and apologies were given and that was that. My mom was still there to punish me though. lol

I work 6a-3p tomorrow (soon to be today) and I need to sleep, but I really don't feel like it. I'm wide awake. I guess I need to start back reading my book so I'll get sleepy.

Parents made reservations for Fort Morgan for 2 weeks in October.

The Alabama coast in October is awesome. 70 degree temps during the day. No rain. Shrimp Festival is one of the 2 weeks we'll be down there. I haven't been to the Shrimp Festival since high school.

I got into it with my step dad once. He said he was going to hit my mom and I got in the middle of them two and said how are you going to hit her on the ground. Because that is where you will be old man. It got good he called his sons and they came to his rescue. Oh the good old days. .
