I wasn't in on it from the start but had conclusively figured out it was in fact a joke pretty quickly into the whole thing (when I looked up Ortiz on LinkedIn). Rather than divulge that information I played along, asking tougher video-gamey questions in the initial thread, which put extra logs onto the fires that were the rightly suspicious thoughts of everyone else. Ryan asked me to join in on the joke right around the "APF2K12 announcement" and for better or worse I did so.
Juvenile? Perhaps. Would it result in a swift and painful OS death on any other day of the year? Likely. Could it still? Possibly, I hope not, I'd like to think that this community still has a sense of humor, and given that OS itself has posted first-party fake NFL2K announcements on past April Fools Days I think that legitimately punishing anyone involved with this would be a double standard; I don't make the rules, though, and in fact maybe Ryan got some sort of clearance to start this stunt beforehand? I still don't know to that end.
But it was entertaining if nothing else, no?Comment

I was the one that posted the announcement. I'm pretty sure Ryan started off the day with the talk of the PS4/Xbox 720, and I was having a tough time trying to figure out non-vague answers to the tough questions Kri posted.
It was fun until ryan got "banned" and "flipped out" on Twitter. I was worried the retaliation part was real even with the "sloppy" (thx Dayman) implementation of "banning" people without removing their arena/avatar, etc.
