Well thinking about my favorite bands:

Weezer - Pinkerton (arguable, but I'd say their best)
Muse - Origins of Symmetry (my second favorite)
Ben Folds Five - Whatever and Ever Amen (their best IMO)
The Killers - Sam's Town (their best IMO)
Coldplay - A Rush of Blood to the Head (second best)
Mute Math - Armistice (equally as good as their first)

I'd say that's usually true. But I think first albums often leave people with high expectations for the next, leaving a lot of people disappointed. I feel like I'm looking forward to Mumford and Sons second album so much, that it's not going to quite live up to the hype I'm giving it in my head. Same with a band called the Crash Kings. Weezer did that to themselves with Pinkerton at first, but then it became known as their best album.

I agree that most people set the bar too high for the second album. But I also think that's because it was the hot album at the time. The second album is more often then not stronger artistically. That goes for any genre of music. If they are successful the 3rd you will notice more branching out but the 2nd is always the album to set the foundation.

I'm not going to sleep tonight just so I'll be so tired tomorrow night I'll be able to go to sleep at a normal time for the first time in a while.

Also, don't you hate waking up from an awesome dream? Last night I dreamed I was on the beach with some hot chick in a bikini and a shirt. Then all of a sudden we were running on the beach. Then we were inside of a skyscraper and I don't remember getting there, but we were there. I heard some noise and looked out a window and ended up fighting some guys with guns trying to break in.

The weird thing was the guys breaking in were really nice and would shoot, then be told not to and tell us they were sorry. Then they'd shoot and get yelled at again and then say they were sorry. But they always fought back.

Then after I fought some guys I jumped out of the building from 20+ stories up and landed on my feet in the middle of a big city covered with sky scrapers. The streets were cleared, but I saw my mom, the girl from the beach, and some random people. We somehow found ourselves in an underground tunnel system even though I don't remember how we got there either.

We got to a certain part of the tunnel system and everyone said we'll wait here, you go on up and clear everything out. So I said okay and had a gun in my hands that I don't know how I got. I started shooting some guys that were coming for us, then advanced some and was leaving the tunnel system and was amazed because it was a big 100 ft x 100 ft opening if not bigger that led to a beautiful rocky beach. I then turned around, shot a few more guys, then woke up.

Such an awesome dream. I just want to know who that chick was and why we were on the beach together laying down at the beginning of the dream, and how she knew my mom so well.

PS: I call dibs on her whenever I get a blue name.

Is it just me, or is the second album any band makes generally the best?

Notable exception - Black Keys.

Bad Religion - Into The Unknown (bastard child and shunned, no)
Pennywise - Unknown Road (good, but not my favorite or the best)
No Fun At All - Out of Bounds (great album, but not the best)
Metallica - Ride The Lightning (fantastic, not my favorite)
Iron Maiden - Killers (good, not the best or favorite)
Led Zeppelin - II (greatness, not sure if its the best or my favorite)
System of a Down - Toxicity (great, hit the mainstream, not my fav)
AFI - Very Proud of Ya (eh, Black Sails is by far the best)
Rammstein - Sehnsucht (my favorite, and probably the best)

Jonesy, my friend, take it from a very experienced Dad, Never... ever.... leave home without a fully prepared diaper bag. I had a few mishaps with my first child but after that I was like that "Come at me Bro" meme lol.

Yeah it will be missed. I tried to keep them TOS friendly but it was an untamable beast once it got started and I guess its days were numbered. I hope the random meme / funny stuff thread can last the night but I also have my doubts there as well.

I guess I'm just lucky I didn't get the ban hammer for starting them (yet).

I hate when that happens, I even try to sleep at least 10 minutes more to end the dream but it disappears.
I don't know if I'm the only one but when I have those kind of dreams or others that I've got to make decisions, I wake up more tired than before sleeping. It really anoys me and that's why I don't like to watch any of my head movies.

I just spent like 30 minutes accumulating data for the Jaguars/Panthers game to send to my family as an attempted group outing. Hopefully it works. I really want to go to that game.

I thought about it more and realized that it's actually usually in the 1-3 range for me. It really depends. I had just been looking through my iTunes and saw about 5 in a row where the second was the best.
