Thursday: Go to meet up with a chick my friend works with because she needs a date for a wedding she is attending. She arrives late to Starbucks, but all things considering, in the end that point doesn't matter. Apparently she had "planned" (see: fall-back plan) to go to a jewelry party at her friend's house, but elected to continue talking to me a little while longer before going out with her friend to salsa night. As Thursday night came to a close, I felt really good and felt some nice connections.
Friday: The wedding. I'm not even sure I want to get into the whole "meeting at the wedding" thing because to me it doesn't really matter, but I know some girls get hung up on meaningless miscues (which was apparently the theme of the whole damn night). I will say one cool thing about the ceremony was the wedding party exiting to the theme of Star Wars. They had two ushers with the seemingly decent-quality toy lightsabres and crossed them as the wedding party went under them. It was unexpected, but a nice touch. Go from the church to the reception and the reception is pretty decent. Not the worst or the best I've been to. In all honesty, the last time I had danced in a public place was probably 8th or 9th grade so I was firing outside of my normal comfort zone, but it felt good to know that I have changed and comfortable trying new things. We started off slow dancing (first song was Bryan Adams' Everything I Do) and actually progressed to some faster pace grooving. Its been a long damn time since I've been on a "real" date and not some movie at the house hook-up night and it was nice. Anyway, after the wedding we went out to a salsa night thing at a local club, but by the time we got there it was pretty much dead. I met some of the regulars and they showed me some stuff and I can say that I am genuinely interested in it and would love to learn. After getting a drink and talking for a bit we were run out of the place and I dropped her off at her car. I asked if I could call her and said sure and that was the night.
Now, I've probably been over thinking (see: probability of 100%), but for some reason I just don't feel like that connection from Thursday was shared as much on Friday. It seemed like she had been having a bad day before then, so maybe it carried over but for whatever reason Friday felt impaired compared to Thursday. I'm really digging this girl, but I don't want to get hung up on somebody I just met and look for things that aren't there. I'm still going to call her, but its just going to be a quick chit chat and straight to asking her out just to know wtf she's going to say.
I will add this. Even if she does say no, I don't think it will bother me I'll just move on down the road. The fact that she puts my ex's to holy hell shame (dancer's body, down to earth personality and great to talk to) I will consider it a kind of "bench mark" of where I am and how far I've come in the past year. Yeah you're overthinking it.
I'd just be cool and see where it takes you. Maybe there wasn't as strong a connection during the date because she was trying to feel you out too. It's a two way street that way.
