Obviously some families' standards are higher than others, but my parents had the money to buy me something new, they just knew better. Let's face it, the average teenager isn't experienced enough to take care of something that nice. I'm not saying they can't buy their kid something nice and reliable ,but I don't think buying a 2011 Camaro for a 16 year old is the way to go. .

I've never wrecked a vehicle in my life and I'm on my third, but most everyone I grew up with wrecked their car at least once, with the exception of a few of my friends..

2005-2006 '93 Ranger
2006-2010 '99 Civic SI
2011- Present '06 Cobalt SS

I'm still working my way up and this girl is getting a car that she will probably have wrecked within a year.

Only car I've had is my 1999 Pontiac Sunfire that I got at the beginning of 09. Couldn't get a freaking parking permit at school though because they were doing construction that took up part of the parking lot. Bastards. I still parked there though, right next to the administrative building so they thought my car belonged to one of them.

Got my sister's 02 Civic when she went to San Francisco for college. Then when she came back and needed a car, she got that one and I got an 09 Civic.

I've never had to have this done. Some of my friends mention it, but I've never had that much buildup where it affects my hearing or anything. I'm also very particular about cleaning out my ears with q-tips twice a day, so maybe that's the reason.

I have learned that q-tips in the ear = big no-no. I've ruptured my eardrum doing it this way. If you have a walgreens, look for an "ototek" it is much more safe & effective.

I've always heard that cleaning your ears with Q-tips is bad because it pushes more of the wax into your ear than it cleans out. That being said, I clean mine with Q-tips because it feels good.

I never had a car in high school, my parents didn't believe in buying kids cars, they believed in if you wanted a car, you work for it and buy it yourself.

That being said, I went to high school with a good number of rich middle eastern kids. When they turned 16 they were bought Mercedes Benz, Audi, BMW. I also had some classmates who got cars from the Chicago Auto Auction.

Didn't get my 1st car until I was in the military. So therefore I never knew what it felt like to drive to high school. I am pretty sure it must have been a super good feeling. But for me, nope, I took a bus, and 2 subway trains, then walked 8 blocks to go to high school. Grand total of 90 minutes in the morning time and 2 hours after school in the evening.

Oh and during the winter time......it was even longer. Use to take me 3 hours to get home.

My first car was a 4 cylinder 89 mustang. It was 3,000 bucks, best part was it had a pink stripe painted on both sides. Easy fix, went to some place like autozone and got a silver stripe that had automotive grade adhesive on the other side and put that sumbeach right over top the pink stripe. Several years later I thought to myself, what would have happened had the silver stripe started to come off while in the high school parking lot???

I've only had 2 cars in my life. I was late getting my license, didn't get it until end of senior year. Got my 1st car shortly after graduation and I had to buy it myself with money I made working. It was a Chevy Blazer, 1998 I believe. Then 4 years ago I got my first brand new car, 2007 Civic, and have had that ever since.
