I read it was trauma caused my hail or a lighting strike. There was storm that passed though the area before this happen. Also with all the New Years fireworks and gunshots it scared the birds and put a lot of stress on them.

I'm not sure I believe that but it is one theory that is out there.

Yeah which is why I don't believe it because you would figure it would happen more often, especially on the 4th of July. Unless the storm plus fireworks created a perfect scenerio for this to happen but I don't know.

Why are people only talking about the birds and ignoring the fish? The reasons given for the birds dont explain what happened with the fish as well.

If I had to guess, I'd say these birds were roosting/nesting in an area that a tornado passed through...they get sucked up, dying in the process, and then dropped down with the trauma evident. Now, don't ask me why the birds didn't get out of the way...maybe it was sudden tornado?

birds fall from sky every day,just not 500 -5000 at a time....---let's be thankful fish are not falling from sky...I may freak out if i seen 20 birds fall let alone 500- or whatever the number was......freaky man...
