I mean it's not like you see someone who is ripped to shreds and go "yeah sure that's guy is ripped but it must suck for him that he's 220lbs" or anything.
I know what you mean... it is the whole stigma where we fall into with being "overweight" we have the weight the scale says... so we try as hard as we can to shred that off to meet a "weight" that we think is "normal" or what we should be.

Look at Lou Ferrigno... the man was 316lbs of solid lean muscle at one point in the early 90's for the Mr. Universe competition. I am sure he did not cry at the scale. (scale says he is OBESE, even at 6'-5" tall)

We are just stuck in the scale watching, because that is what we were using for so long as a measurement of what we lost.

But once we hit a certain point, it is the physical "eye" results that mean more, rather than the scale results that will lie at this time... especially with lean gains.

Great post all very true ^^^^

I'm thinking of running the Sheiko program to boost my squat, deadlift and bench press lifts.

I've never done a really structured program like that before and think it might be in my best interests to really nail 'the big 3' better than I am now.

        Re: OS Weight Loss 2011

The reshape the nation program I'm on shocks the body in a few different ways. The guy behind is all about carb cycling. Last week, all 7 days, were a high carb week. Instead of 2 meals of carbs, 4 meals had carbs in them.(5 meals per day) This week, the first 3 days are low carb days, Thursday a high carb day, etc........ and a few more low carb days. He said every 4 to 6 weeks he likes to have a full week of straight high carb days just to shock the system. He guarantees this Thursday morning the scales will read lower because we are flushing out the water and carbs from last week.

As far as the gym goes, he suggests interval training with something cardiovascular. For instance, today, it was two minutes slow, 2 minutes fast. I'm to go 45 minutes with that.

So far, the program is working. I fell off a few times and paid for it, but got right back on it and I'm down a nice 20lbs in 10 weeks.

It definitely keeps me motivated to see something work.

        It's not for everyone, though.

I only weigh 170 lbs, being 5'9". However I got a little bit of belly fat going and want to atleast have a flat stomach again(abs can come later lol).

I've been doing some football every Tuesday/Thursday to help my friend try to walk on to FSU in the spring, but really 1st time i've been fully healthy as i've been sick seemingly since August so started to really try to get in shape this week.

Monday: 1 hour of Bball(few games of 5v5 full court), stadium steps and push ups/sit ups. Gym: Bench(4 sets of 10 and a burnout), chest flies, closegrip, abs

Tuesday: 2.5 hour of tossing football, running routes, 3v3,etc.

Wednesday: 1.5 hour of just shooting, etc of Bball. Gym: Lat pulldowns, few other bicep workouts, 1 mile run.

Thursday: 2 hour of tossing football. Stadium steps

Friday: prolly repeat of Monday without the stadium steps.

My likely plan so far, the gym will prolly change depending as the stadium steps just depends on if my friend wants to head over there or not. I don't do leg workouts cause I do enough activity and my knees are just not conducive to squats, etc anymore.

About 3 years ago I was 200 lbs at 6 ft tall with 9-10% body fat. I used to lift 5 days a week and run 2 miles 4-5 tmes a week. I have all the knowledge I need in order to lose the weight, I just feel like I can't. My energy levels are at an all time low, my metabolism has always been on the slow side (thanks genetics). I get home from work after a 45 minute commute and just feel dead tired.

Anyway I guess I just needed to get that off my chest. Now I need to stop crying and get my *** in gear.
Hey, don't feel bad. If it were that easy, everyone would be in great shape with rippling muscles, six pack abs, etc.

I think most people know what it takes, but it just comes down to motivation. Sometimes you just don't have it after a hard day's work. The only thing you want to do is grab a nice, hot meal and relax.

Sounds stupid, but since i'm in college it's applicable. When I don't want to go work out, or I'm getting tired running around the track and thinking about stopping I think about some random chick I kinda like and well that gets me motivated some what lol.

Whatever motivation helps! I do the same thing sometimes too. Especially when I wake up in the morning and don't want to do my sit-ups.

I've learned to leave the scale alone. I used to get way too pumped or way too down when I'd get on there. Now, I might weigh myself once every month or so.

I'm going to try and pay more attention to the way my clothes fit rather than what the scale says.

Exactly. You reach a point to where it is all visual, feel, and how the clothes fit.

The scale will lie and fluctuate much more as you reach that "final stretch"

Good news is I am down to 222... and 20lbs more I will be a beast! So now it is a once a month weigh in with all this resistance CrossFit strength training, cardio, and proper eating.

Well I figured I would check in again...

                      Weigh in this morning.

                      216 lbs.

I was starting to plateau and could not get below 220 (stayed at 222-225) for the life of me the last few weeks.

The power outage left me out of the gym for a week, then last week I was very busy with a lot of patrol assignments for work due to that as well.

So the two week break was exactly what my body needed. I just shredded weight off. And loving it. I have not been below 220 in over 10 years.

Now I have to buy more pants, that I just got, because they fall right off.

But I guess that is not a bad reason to buy clothes.

I am SLACKING to the max. My problem is getting started. Also, going through a rough patch with the gf, so I have been drinking.

I most likely gained 5-10 lbs in the past 3 weeks, I would attribute most to drinking.

Well gentlemen I'm going to do my best to get my lazy rear out of bed at 6am monday morning so I can get morning cardio going. Then when I get home from work it'll be time to hit the weights. Lifting has always been the easy part for me so doing that after work will be no problem. This is exactly what I did about 3 years ago, before I went on my downward spiral so hopefully it'll all come back to me.

Nice work King, kick some *** buddy!

Personally I'm just finishing up my first month of the Sheiko 29 beginner strength program (mainly focuses on bench press, squat and dead lifts) and I'm loving it. I have only tested my max atg squat and finally hit 100kg (220lbs) on that which is a nice milestone. My previous best was 90kg (200lbs) and I was able to rep that 3 times after only a month of Sheiko.

The program (Sheiko has programs ranging from beginner all the way through to advanced) is only a month long then you either do it again or pick a more advanced program. For me I plan on upping all of the lifts 10% then running another month of it before xmas then I'll take a week off and try something new in the new year.

Progress has been good with me now being down a few more belt sizes and my wife (who is 5 months pregenant) was complaining that I'm getting 'too sexy now' whatever the hell that means and she said she won't be able to let me out of the house alone soon.

Ok now that I'm in a routine I'll finally post in here. For some reason threads like these kill my motivation. I have no idea why.

Long story short I am now under 210, even after my massive burrito relapse, (re; off topic reference).

I started out the year around 235.

I need a new belt, and everything I own barely fits me anymore. Although I enjoy my clothes being baggy so I'm not going to be shopping anytime soon.

I hit the weights 4 times a week, 30min workouts. Isolated muscle groups. Monday= Chest and Back, Tuesday=Biceps and Shoulders, etc..

I do cardio 6 times a week. 30 minutes a day 3 times a week, and 1 hour a day the other 3. The way my schedule is this all varies because I don't have set work days but I average 4-5 hours of cardio a week.

I took today off from the gym because I'm pretty much exhausted everywhere and I feel guilty. Haha.

How do you guys handle snacking when not hungry?

I get this urge to just start eating, but I'm really not even hungry. It's really freaking hard to put aside, sometimes, too. Sometimes I can, other times I end up eating close to 1000 calories just grabbing random crap.

Also - starting HIT at the gym... It's nice to have a solid program, and not have to go to the gym more than once every 5-7 days. Been reading a lot up on it, and it sounds like it a real deal; I'll keep my progress and see how well my body handles it.
