Re: RIP Eli Coleman
Sorry for your loss eli, I will someday go through what you are going through. it seems like you gave that dog a heck of a life and Im certain you were his best bud as well. Not much more you can ask for in life weather its 14 years or 100 years. Best wishes to you and your family.
I remember when my cat had to be put to sleep (she had a lot of ailments and it was time). I didn't actually know it was gonna happen, but after I went back to college in January one year I was really sad all day and thinking about her...the next day my mom called me and said they did it the day I was sad for some reason.
I don't usually believe in this stuff, but I think that was my cat saying goodbye and thank you. While I was sad I wrote myself a note about all the happy things about that cat and I get choked up whenever I read it to this day...Best cat ever.

Re: RIP Eli Coleman
That's rough.
Putting my little girl, Smokey, to sleep was absolutely the most difficult thing I ever had to do in my life.
Still kills me to this day and it's 9 months already.
Stay strong.

When it's all said and done, I'm sure Eli will be there waiting for you at the gates, toys in hand and waiting for some scratches and belly rubs. God bless, man, to the both of you.Comment

Re: RIP Eli Coleman
I'm going to begin by saying my heart sank when I first saw this thread, I thought this was about you.
I don't want that to diminish what happened here though, and with that I am terribly sorry. I lost a guinea pig of six years back in September, and still grieve about it to this day. I know you loved your dog with a passion, like family. I don't know what else to say, but just know there are those who have been where you are now and would like to help as much as possible.

Re: RIP Eli Coleman
Cute dog, Tyler. Sad that he had to go.
Dogs are such great companions. When I had to put my first dog down I didn't feel the same for months. Just remember that he's no longer going to be suffering once he has passed.
Also, don't shy away from getting another dog afterward. Not as a replacement, but just as another great companion. After my first dog (named Cody) was put down, I thought I'd never want another pet. But getting another dog helped fill the void left after losing Cody. Dogs are so loving and they seem to understand when something is wrong, causing them to become even more loving. One can certainly help with recovering from a loss like yours.
Good luck.Bears | Bulls | Cubs | Illinois | #Team3Some

Re: RIP Eli Coleman
Thank you guys for all the wonderful, supporting words.
My heart has been heavy all day knowing that tomorrow is his final day with us. It really got me today when my stepmom said she was going to give him a bath and let him sleep on the bed, knowing that it's the last time that'll happen.Originally posted by CardsFan27This is the 3rd time John Calipari has been to his first Final Four! What I'm Currently Listening ToComment

Re: RIP Eli Coleman
Sorry to hear this. I feel for you a lot man. My parents yellow lab passed a couple years ago. He was 14. I still think about him from time to time. Right now we have 3 dogs. I absolutely dread the day we have to deal with this with them. Keep your head up man. Remember the good times and know he is in a better place now.Comment

Re: RIP Eli Coleman
The Rainbow Bridge...
By the edge of a woods, at the foot of a hill,
Is a lush, green meadow where time stands still.
Where the friends of man and woman do run,
When their time on earth is over and done.
For here, between this world and the next,
Is a place where each beloved creature finds rest.
On this golden land, they wait and they play,
Till the Rainbow Bridge they cross over one day.
No more do they suffer, in pain or in sadness,
For here they are whole, their lives filled with gladness.
Their limbs are restored, their health renewed,
Their bodies have healed, with strength imbued.
They romp through the grass, without even a care,
Until one day they start, and sniff at the air.
All ears prick forward, eyes dart front and back,
Then all of a sudden, one breaks from the pack.
For just at that instant, their eyes have met;
Together again, both person and pet.
So they run to each other, these friends from long past,
The time of their parting is over at last.
The sadness they felt while they were apart,
Has turned into joy once more in each heart.
They embrace with a love that will last forever,
And then, side-by-side, they cross over… together.Comment
