I thought of this yesterday when my boss was complaining how much of a pain in the butt it was to peel an orange and I pointed out that
1) If you roll an orange around with a bit of pressure for 20 or 30 seconds prior to peeling, it helps to seperate the skin a bit from the meat of the orange and makes the peel come off much easier. You are left with a lot less of the white stuff on the orange.
2) When you open a brand new CD, instead of trying to peel the stupid sticker off that seals the case shut only to have it rip in shreds while you spend several minutes picking and peeling at it, open it from the back side.
Flip the case around and use your thumb nail (or any finger nail or flat object) to pop the hinge-part of the case that allows the case to swing open and close. Once you do this, the case will open like a book and is only connected by the sticker. You can then can easily remove the sticker by peeling the case away from the sticker on both sides. The pop the hinge-part back together and good as new.
