Re: Mancave is flooded!!!!
Yep and I wouldn't bother putting a claim in if you can afford to pay it. I don't know how insurance companies are where you live, but in some states, after 3 claims they drop you, even if they were small claims.Comment

Re: Mancave is flooded!!!!
I feel for you man. My house got flooded in 2009. Had flood insurance because of the low lying area I live in. Had to rip up the carpet. It gets better man. But yes I know it sucks right now.Redskins, Lakers, Orioles, UNC Basketball , and ND Football

Re: Mancave is flooded!!!!
A Sump-pump Failure is not a flood, it is covered under home owners insurance. Fight this, do not give up, talk to a attorney if you have to. I used to work in this business and they will try and F you. When people put up a little resistence to these companies, they usually fold as they are required to pay.Comment

Re: Mancave is flooded!!!!
A little more salt to add to the wounds. I finally get a little time to wind down a bit and take my PS3 upstairs to fire up a little FNC demo and my PS3 has no videoAll I could do was laugh it off. I tried different tv's to no avail. I tried HDMI, composite with no luck. My concern now is my Target reciept says it expires on 1-31-2011. I called and they said bring it in anyway and they would honor it. The box it came in is destroyed from the water in the basement I hope it won't send up any red flags
The co. that is working on it said by me jumping right on it and not wasting time I probably saved my carpet and the chance of mold forming. If all goes well they said I might be back in business Sat/Mon depending on how fast it dries. I almost just want to go out and just get new carpet and say the heck with it at this point because me patience is thin.
Don't laugh at the carpet from the pictures that I am getting ready to post. It looks like a hot air ballon with all the blowers, de-humidifiers and all.The poster formerly know as "FLIGHTWHITE"Comment

Hey Jasong7777 I didn't even pick up on him saying "Wet Mancave" It's actually a damp mancave now
My daughter just got pack from Target, they exchanged the PS3 and gave me a new one. Lost all my saves but oh well. The poster formerly know as "FLIGHTWHITE"Comment

Re: Mancave is flooded!!!!
If you look at the top right corner that is my sub-woofer that is destroyed. It still works but I may just go ahead and replace it. Those are the 3 blowers you can't see the other 2 are on the other side of the room with this huge de-humudifier.
All my mancave furniture has been moved to the other side of my basement. That's is the 2nd photo. My tv, bluray player, other electronics, bookcases, cpu desk are all crammed in the other side on the basement. The red area rug that you see must have weighed over 200lbs soaking wet. I currently have it hanging over are card table to try and get it to dry.
The top left is the sump-pump that failed me. Home Depot replaced my old one at no charge so that was a blessing.
At the end of the day I guess my home could have caught fire with my family inside I would have really been a mess. It's all working out so I am starting to feel better.Last edited by Flightwhite24; 02-03-2011, 04:02 PM.The poster formerly know as "FLIGHTWHITE"Comment

#1 go buy the largest capacity backup sump pump, this is what I have: http://www.basementwatchdog.com/ and I have the watchdog water alarms.
The backup sump has an alarm and sounds if activated by loss of power or your regular sump fails.
The water alarms are placed on floor near anything you want protected. Have underneath washer, water heater, water line coming to house and sump pump.

Re: Mancave is flooded!!!!
Well the co. is here this morning to clean the carpets. I paid for a new pad even though the co. said the one I had would be ok. I just needed peace of mind for myself/family. Little more than $500 for fixing this mess.
Only real loss was my cpu, Bose system still works, PS3 was replaced at no charge, sump pump replaced no charge. All in all I'm pretty happy other than the fact our Wedding Anniversary plans were ruined as we were gonna go out of town tonight at a Casino Resort in Ky and stay till Monday. We may still sneak out tomorrow, just have to play it by ear.
Thanks for all the advice, tips from everyone. I'll be damned if I don't get a different policy now after this exp.The poster formerly know as "FLIGHTWHITE"Comment
