HBO: Over the air
Got another "do you remember..." thread. Anyone remember getting HBO over the air with an antenna? Yep , you heard it here first. There was a time when HBO came over the air. In NY I think the antenna was on the Empire State building. You couldn't use a regular Radio Shack ant. You had to know a "hook up" that had the antennas.Tags: None -

We used to get HBO and Cinemax over the air. It was the greatest thing that could happen to a 13-year old boy."The best thing about being a football player at Alabama...winning...winning." -Mark Barron

Re: HBO: Over the air
I remember something similar with the cable movie channels and later PPV. We used to have a descrambler box would would unscramble the cable signals and voila! The Movie Network and other cable networks such as TBS, WSBK WGN and I think the NY superstation (can't remember the call letters off the top of my head) and of course Viewer's Choice PPV.

Re: HBO: Over the air
During the 80s before there was cable, it was this thing called On TV, it was nothing but an antennae that stuck on your wall. It was the greatest thing ever growing up in Chicago. Because not only did you get HBO, you also got Play Boy over the air after 10:30pm at night. It was also a Disney like channel over the air as well that showed cartoons all day.Comment
