I smoked for a decade before quitting, smartest thing I've ever done.

I've never tried it because I found it gross. After seeing those bottles full of spit and seeing a few people puke the first time they tried it I knew that crap wasn't for me.

      Good luck on quitting.

        Re: Chewing Tobacco

I dipped for about 12-13 years. Stopped cold turkey one day because I got scared of mouth/throat cancer and realized I wanted more from life. Like many on here, I had cravings while gaming, golfing and right after dinners as those were my prime dipping times...never got "the shakes" or headaches from quitting though - just minor cravings. Honestly, quitting was much easier than I thought it would be. I did use some of the fake stuff for about a month after I quit, but even that was making my gums sore so I stopped using it (I used Smokey Mountain Herbal Chew?).

It's been a good 5-6 years since I quit and I couldn't be happier. There are still times when I golf or play a baseball video game and think about dipping, but I haven't caved and the thought leaves my mind within a few minutes.

Never tried it. I'll never understand tobacco users.

Are drug drug discussions allowed on OS?

Now would a good time to go read the TOS considering you're new and apparently clicked "Agree" when signing up but didnt actually read the rules

All tobacco users are disgusting beyond belief in my eyes.

I smoked for 13 years and it is by far the stupidest thing I have ever done.

The only benefit of chewing tobacco/snuff is that it doesn't effect us non-tobacco users' health like secondhand cigarette/cigar smoke does.

You guys quitting is going to force me out of a job.

Just kidding. Seriously though, I work for a smokeless tobacco company and I agree with those who say quit if you can.

                  American Snuff company is better

Yea I actually have a dip in while reading this. For everyone saying it is disgusting: yes we know it is. I started dipping while I was in the Army(basic training to be exact), I enjoyed smoking but my Run time was pretty important to me so i started dipping. In the Military, a huge portion of people dip so there is no one telling you it is gross.

I do want to quit but like others have said, Dipping and video games just go together perfectly. I figure I will try out those E-Cigarettes to try and quit. If that doesn't work, I will have to stop playing video games, stop working, stop driving, and stop pooping.

I quit chewing tobacco 10 months ago after using it for 23 years. I too had the "cancer scare" and realized I did not want to possibly have my lower jaw removed or worse. My gums have receeded where I put the dip in and so far I do not have any other effects. I'll be honest, I really enjoyed doing it and if it didn't have all the health risks I'd still be doing it. I quit cold turkey and have cravings from time to time even now, but I've noticed my heart rate has gone way down and I'm not as anxious now that I'm not chewing. Good luck to all who choose to quit.
