    Freaking Car Dealership

So I went to get myself a car on Sunday. Found this place in New York. I was actually looking at a BMW 328XI. I found it for $17,000 with 56,000 miles on it. However i found out that on my current pay-check at my place of employment i would not be able to maintain this car. I make about 1,500 a month still living with my parents here. (I'm 22)

Anyway, i pick a different car, a 2007 Jetta Wolfsburg (yes i know its a chicks car) but it was fully loaded and stick shift. I traded in my 2000 Mustang v6 for it. Now i wanted to drive the car home Sunday but the dealer didn't have a release slip so he didn't want me driving it all the way back to my home in Connecticut and getting a ticket. So he tells me he'll drop off the car Monday morning and pick up my Mustang.

So on Monday i take my moms mini-van to work (YUK) and leave my car at home. Since i already signed for the Jetta and called my insurance, by Monday my insurance on my mustang had been transferred to to the Jetta. It snowed a bit on Monday, probably about an inch or so, so the dealer calls me and tell mes he'll drop the car Tuesday.

So another day comes and i have to take my moms mini-van to work. Now my Mustang is parked in front of my house, my dad went to go get the old insurance form in the car, as he was getting out of a the car, some jackass smashes into my door and continues on. Thank goodness my dad was still in the car and not out, the dude completely ruined my door, it doesn't even close now.

It still Tuesday and no call from the Deal yet, my Dad decides to call the guy to tell him about what just happened. The guy wasn't there, but his secretary said he would call us back.

Its now Wednesday and i haven't received my Jetta yet nor even a phone call from these guys. Because my insurance switched over to the Jetta, they won't my insurance cant do anything about the Mustang door. But because the car officially is on the Dealers insurance now, i would take it the dealer has to deal with it now right?

Now my mom has to go back to work Thursday and I need my freaking car. I've called the freaking dealer about 5xs today and still no response. I would drive there but its about an hour and a half away and i had other things to do today. If this persists i want to just cancel this purchase, what kind of professional does this sort of stuff?

Any opinions? Should i just go there for a face to face or wait till Saturday? I'm boiling mad at this point. I refuse to fix the Mustang door cause the dealer should of picked it up Monday, or Tuesday morning. Not only that but because he delayed his efforts my and insurance won't cover my car, now i'm paying insurance on a car sitting in his lot.

I left a message cursing him out. But I've calmed down at the moment. Any suggestions?

I agree with fishpa. The first thing I'd do is call and apologize for the voice-mail. Just let him know that your frustrated with the situation and would like it to resolved ASAP. Then politely ask him how to go about it from there.

      Good luck!

Honestly I think you are SOL

I don't see anybody standing up to take that damage

You need to try and find the driver who hit you. Did your dad get tags or anything? Were there any cameras in the area that may have caught the incident?

            File police report
            Find car
            File claim on their insurance

Honestly chances of that are very small

Unfortunately, you're probably gonna have to grin and bear this one.

I bet you never park an uninsured car on the road again in your life! (I know I won't after reading your story)

If the deal was done wouldn't the car in the street technically be theirs?

Thats what my neighbor said, technically its theres and since they brought it from me, they should of insured it. However my dad said if worst comes to worst and they don't want it, i can replace the door for about $500 and i'll just keep it and pay the difference to the dealer.

About the incident, it happened to fast for my dad to get the dudes license plate. He was just glad he hadn't stepped outside, the way the door is damaged, my dad could of gotten seriously injured.

If the dealer had just kept his word on delivering me the car, none of this would of happened, really what are the chances that the day my car goes un-insured, someone ******* hits it.

Hopefully the dealer calls tomorrow and we can settle this, i just want my new car

Not trying to be too critical, but why are you looking at such fancy cars when you only make $1,500 a month? It might be wise to be saving up and not trying to drive a BMW, even a used one.

He didn't buy a BMW - he looked at one but decided against it.

This whole situation sucks and I have a bad feeling that the OP won't come out on top with this one... One of the crappy lessons that life teaches you.

Yeah, any updates? That's a crappy situation.

I would think if the transaction and all paper work has been signed, it's not your fault.

I hope it works out in your favor.
