    Car batteries

I'm planning on replacing the battery in my car next week. I think it's the original battery and it's been there for 6 years now (and it's A LOT in this kind of weather).

I went to Canadian Tire and they have Motomaster batteries there. I got an offer for around $100.

Does anyone here (especially guys who live in cold places) have any experience with Mtomaster batteries?

Also, at Walmart they sell Energizer batteries and offered me one for around $80. Does anyone have one and can comment about it?

Is there another brand you guys would recommend? If so, where can I buy it?

    Thanks!

I would recommend Diehard. Its sold here in the States at places like Autozone, O'Reilly Auto Parts and I believe even Wal-Mart.

Its the only battery I put in my car and when I purchase new vehicles, I'll instantly take my car to my guy and have him swap the battery out to a Diehard if its not already installed.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

there are only 3 companies that make batteries in north america. exide, deka and interstate. all of them are quality batteries though i would rank them deka, interstate then exide. get the one with the highest cold cranking amps and longest warranty and have them test it before they install it to verify the battery still meets the standards it was built to

6 years is a long time for the original battery. I just had to replace mine after about 3 years and I don't live up north. $80-100 with the core charge is average. The more expensive the better/longer warranty and battery.

Don't know about stores there, but places like Autozone will put it in for free, so look around and don't pay much for it.

Thanks for the tips, and yeah I know about the CCA. I'm not sure I've ever seen a Die Hard one, but I'll try to look for it. And I don't think there is Autozone here. But there is Midas, and I wonder what batteries they have there. I might go there and check it.

            EDIT:
At Kal Tire they sell Die Hard batteries. Gotta check and see if they have it here.

OK guys, so I went today to buy a battery. I went to another 2-3 places. I did find a Die Hard battery, but they only give a 2-year full replacement warranty + (I think) 4 years. I think I also saw a Napa battery (pretty expesive for around $150) but they also give only 2+4 year warranty.

Eventually I decided to buy a Motomaster Eliminator one from Canadian Tire. It comes with 3 year full raplacement + 6 years. It has 570 CCA. Hope it will be fine for as long as possible. Battery price was $92.

I asked the guy there if it's a maintenance-free battery and he said it is, but there is a fluid level to check once in a while. My previous battery (AC Delco, which is a brand of GM) was apparently full maintenance free, unless I didn't know it wasn't.
