2020 Corolla LE MSRP is $19,950. That sales manager would have been fired if they approved that sell for 20K. Up here they going for 24K to 26K.

Re: OS Cars Thread
With news of the 4 series redesign and the promise of a MT Gran Coupe for the 2021 model year I've decided to resist the new car itch for a while. I'm hoping the 440i Gran Coupe will have a MT option, but if not I'll be grabbing the M. If only BMW would get on board with ventilated seats in models below the 5. That's the one thing I'm really going to miss.
One other peeve of mine is on the 2019 and beyond models Apple Car Play is essentially a service that you subscribe to. I want to say it's 80 bucks a year, which to me sounds like a cheap cash grab. Lots of complaints on that. It comes free the first year, and I like Car Play, but I've turned it off to see how my experience changes without it and I'm not sure it's a significant hit enough to warrant paying 80 bucks, plus the whole principle of it.Last edited by bkrich83; 08-10-2019, 01:47 PM.Comment

Re: OS Cars Thread
Welp they have been bugging my wife all day while I was at work. I was at 22K. Last offer they made was 24K. Told them wouldn’t even come to the dealership without a guaranteed offer at 23K. The negative equity definitely hurts us as far as where they are willing to go on walkout price.
Edit: welp sales guy now telling us the GM agreed to the 23K. Makes me feel like if I let them sweat more they will do 22K.Last edited by m1ke_nyc; 08-10-2019, 04:45 PM.It’s easier to do the right thing, than to explain why you didn’t.Comment

Re: OS Cars Thread
For me an MT is simply not feasible. Southern California traffic and MT's do not go well together. That said you're wish for an MT in the 440i and the ventilated seats are a common complaint among BMW drivers. I suspect the seat issue will be resolved for the 2021 model, as well as like I said earlier the updated infotainment system and the new digital instrument cluster. (I'm torn on the new instrument cluster, I love the analog instruments, but when I tested the M340i the new digital one was pretty clean.).

Hoping you're right about the ventilated seats with the 2021. Nothing is better on a long car ride than hitting the cool seat option.
I can understand the frustration with Apple Car play. I've seen similar complaints on bimmerpost/reddit. Doesn't seem like there is enough value added to justify the high cost. At least you have the option though. Us Android users get completely snubbed by BMW with the lack of Android Auto which is just baffling. I've read that there are some OEM head units out there, but it sounds like it's not a perfect marriage between them and BMW's stock systems.Comment

We finally caved and got the wife a 2020 Corolla. 22,700 out the door with trading in the Dart that was under water. Will get a better pic later but this was last night at the dealership. It’s easier to do the right thing, than to explain why you didn’t.Comment

Here’s a better pic from inside the garage. Wife is happy with the car. Hopefully in a couple years I can get me a 4Runner.It’s easier to do the right thing, than to explain why you didn’t.Comment

Re: OS Cars Thread
Omg...since this is the only real car thread around.
The m4 concept that was just unveiled at the Frankfurt auto show. That's not a kidney grille, that's a kidney tumor.
Looks like I will not be joining the BMW ranks

Having said that, I totally get that it's not worth the trouble to most people since the rare times you get to let it rip and have any real fun with the car are few and far between (for most standard commuters). If your car is just your transportation, plain-and-simple, no need to get a MT.

Re: OS Cars Thread
Totally agree on this. I think companies are constantly testing the limits of what people will pay for, and Apple especially has gotten away with murder in terms of premium pricing their products for so long, it's only natural that they'd try this. Of course, like they found out with the iPhone X, there's a limit to what people will pay, and they're starting to reach it. People like CarPlay, but it's by no means essential, and even if it was $1/month then it's a $1/month I'm not willing to pay. I don't need my car to be an extension of my phone. I'm in my car to drive it, not to futz around with a poor simulacrum of a tablet.Last edited by Bruins; 09-12-2019, 10:19 PM.Comment

Re: OS Cars Thread
I'm coming to the realization that the auto industry in 2019 hates me lol
Not being able to compromise on a manual transmission severely limits my options both new and used within the last few years. Especially since I'm not looking for an economy car like a civic.
The new BMW is out for me unless they go back to the drawing board with that grille.
Audi made sticks in the A4 and A5 up through 2018, but they are hard to find. I did find one on a nation wide search, but it did not have the warm weather package (cooled seats are hard to give up after you have had them)
The last time Benz had a stick was 2015, and that was in their roadster.
I started looking at a few used 911's, but the cost of ownership is too much.
The Camaro is still an option. It has the comfort features I want and enough infotainment to keep me happy. I just worry about a car like that as a daily driver. It's so big and hard to see out of.
Slightly funny story. I filled a Costco auto form online yesterday for the Audi A4. Local dealer called me a few minutes later. I explained that I was looking for a 2017 or 2018 used A4 or A5, but I wanted a manual which was difficult to find. He spent the next 10 minutes trying to sell me on not buying a manual (they didnt have any in stock).

Re: OS Cars Thread
Luxury/performance for less than 70k.
I have always loved cars like the Camaro, gto, etc that will throw you in the back of your seat. I dont necessarily need 450lb of torque like a Camaro, but I want something with at least 250 that you can still feel when you hit the throttle and a nice sports suspension that hugs the road. I'd also prefer RWD or AWD with rear bias.
On the luxury side I like heated/cooled seats and modern infotainment systems. I like Audi's virtual cockpit and the heads up display. I'm a little less picky on exactly what kind of infotainment I get overall though. It would be nice to get something with android auto at least.

Re: OS Cars Thread
I think a lot of the higher end performance cars are mostly paddle shifters at best. Obviously depending on what you're looking for. I know the middle-priced (30-45k) performance cars tend to have an MT option. Or at least when I was looking 3 years ago and bought my WRX. Then again you may miss the HP mark you're looking for, too.

Re: OS Cars Thread
Ya BMW is the only remaining luxury sports brand that offers a stick option unfortunately (and that new thing is just...no). At least not without going to something like a Porsche 911, but I dont want to pay $500 for an oil change lol (even assuming I could find a used one that was affordable).
I keep thinking maybe I'll have to bite the bullet and settle for a modern dual clutch, but then I instantly balk at that idea. I already have a car that doesn't fit what I want. No reason to take on a new car payment for something else that isnt what I want. Fortunately I'm in no rush. My car only has 70k miles on it, so it's not like I'm in need of something right now.

Re: OS Cars Thread
I won't ever own a personal vehicle that's not a stick-shift. It forever will be an automatic (EDIT: wow no pun intended) deal-breaker for me if it's not.Last edited by Blzer; 09-14-2019, 11:07 AM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment
