I don't know what to do anymore
guys i can really use some help here. Around a week ago i was diagnosed out of the blue with Mono. this was extremely odd considering the fact that i am practically a germaphobe and i have been out of the girl market for a while (school, and work is taking up practically all of my time). I now found out that there is an extremely high chance that i could get this heart disease due to the rapid overall progress of mono. I can't go outside im practically quarantined in my room and i can't see my mother or my sister because neither of them ever had mono. I can no longer see my friends, go out enjoy a game of catch or due practically any physical activity until god knows when. I need some help guys advice or just good wishes because as of right now im depressed and pretty much bed ridden. i appreciate any reading and helping me out

Anyway, that sucks Poopydude though it almost sounds to me like your doctor is being overly cautious with you. I've never had mono, but I don't know anything about it possibly causing any heart problems. However, I also don't know your previous medical history and if you might have any preexisting conditions that might change your risk factors. As far as having to stay away from people, mono isn't transmitted by air. It is transmitted by contact with bodily fluids such as saliva (hence whiy it's called "the kissing disease". And I'm not even sure what the transmission rate through saliva is since my mom tried very hard but failed to give both of us mono when my sister had it. All 3 of our toothbrushes had been in a toothbrush caddy, but when she was cleaning the bathroom she piled them on top of each other in the medicine cabinet. As far as staying in bed, from what I've heard (a couple friends from college and my sister have had it), you're going to be extremely tired and will want to sleep a lot anyway. My one friend in college who had it was still going out and dosing stuff with friends when he felt up to it. Basically, do what your body feels it can do but don't overdo it. Get lots of rest, drink lots of fluids, avoid strenuous activity, and don't share glasses/silverware/etc. with others.Steelers : IX, X, XIII, XIV, XL, XLIII

I'd definitely just sleep. Relax, watch TV, movies, use the internet, look around for forums, learn about things, learn a new language or two.....I don't know.
Best of luckComment

Re: I don't know what to do anymore
That is a very bad idea for someone with mono. Mono causes splenomegaly (enlarged spleen) and the spleen is essentially a blood-soaked sponge wrapped in a thin membrane that, when enlarged, is at an increased risk for traumatic rupture during strenous activity (hence the activity restrictions.
