How do you guys feel about combat photos being released for the sake of quelling those who think its a fake because of the mass confusion of info being put out (ie bomb run, then ground raid, etc) and that they (US military) feel forced to do it because high leaders of the enemy refuse to acknowledge the result of said event.
Osama has been behind thousands, and thousands of deaths, not just in America but around the world. Does he not deserved to be punished for those crimes as much as a serial rapist or killer deserves to, even ten years after the most publicized event?
Obama's words were perfect: Justice has been done.
It's irrelevant because at no point in my post or this thread did I say Osama didn't deserve what was coming to him. If he is responsible for 9/11 then he should pay for it, in this case w/ his life. In the end some new Head of terror will step in his place and we're back to square 1. It's a never ending cycle. And IMO no reason to celebrate. I feel like its a false sense of victory. I have multiple friends in every branch from the marines to even the coast guard. I hope for their safety everyday.
I'm glad I'm not the guy that has to decide on it and go to sleep knowing there's going to be potential consequences either way.
The issue I see with releasing photos is that he apparently does have family who didn't disown him. The pictures have the potential to light a fire in them and motivate them to do whatever they feel is necessary. Now are they capable of whatever? I have no clue, I just think the pictures would be a potential motivator
I saw it was mentioned earlier but I just read that Bin Laden's wife wasnt actually killed and was shot in the calf but survived. I pulled it from the following article...
In addition to bin Laden, one of his sons, Khalid, was killed in the raid, Brennan said. Bin Laden's wife was shot in the calf but survived, a U.S. official said. Also killed were Ahmed and his brother, both earlier identified as two of bin Laden's al-Qaida facilitators.
I'd rather not prioritize the need to appease conspiracy theorists over further inflaming passions in the Middle East.
Exactly my thoughts. Leave it at what it is.

I don't think anyone is claiming victory. They'd be naive if they did. I think there is a sense of justice being served. No more, no less.
I don't think releasing papers or even showing the DNA evidence would prove anything to some of the hardcore conspiracy nuts so it's best not to go down that road. Hell, even if they had Osama hanging from a noose on live TV people would still say it's faked.
