Alright so here it the lowdown, lately I have been on OS more than I usually do and that is because I was working a 2k11 roster. For a while there though the only reason I was frequenting here was because I was in the Vets NBA 2k11 league and I usually don't go into many of the forums minus NBA2k11, NCAA11 and the NBA sections.
But since my small absence from OS and now more pronounced return I have noticed an influx of quote unquote meaningless threads. And I mean more than the usual that most forums have.
That and many of the replies many posters have now seem to lack even more qualities that a poster should have when making a post. ie... post awareness (reading through a thread to see if a question has been asked before or using the search tool), some form of grammar, etc...etc...etc...
Now I have been reading a lot more into politics in general and I have been taking notice of the public in general, which here in the UK you can actually talk to someone about generalities without having "put down" the other person, which is nice.
But as I am within 3 weeks of moving back to the U.S. the more and more I dread the fact that I am going to be around a general population that are "idiots". Now as much as I hate to say that its pretty well established that the general US citizen lacks self awareness, "world" shoot even "U.S." comprehension, the ability to govern themselves in a decent manner, etc... etc... etc...
Now I don't want anyone to think that I "hate" or "dislike" America because I don't, I proudly served my country and continue to do so by supporting my wife who is proudly serving right now.
But when you take a step back and look at the country as a whole compared to the way other main countries (UK, Germany, etc) people in general conduct/treat themselves with more respect and dignity than in the U.S.
Now that goes back to my original point, the more I see how people conduct themselves on this forum the more it makes me dread knowing that if a person on OS (9/10 times is American) cannot even conduct themselves on a forum properly, what am I going to see once I get back to the U.S?
I have many friends who have been with me overseas here, who are now back in the U.S. and they are all telling me that I am going to be in more of a culture shock when I get back than it was going from the U.S. to Europe. /rant
Really though have Americans dropped that far off in terms of simple grammar, self awareness, etc?
