    Re: Long road trip advice

Sounds like a lot of fun.

I wouldn't mind taking a road trip, but if I'm not driving or in the front I get car sick, and it doesn't take long to happen. I'm talking 15-20 minutes and I feel sick. I think part of it might be mental.

        The toll roads suck too.

If you do go to Busch and watch the Cards (and you still have room for food) try the Bacon Wrapped Hotdog. I love it, but a lot of people do not know about it. It's a full meal in itself and it is located at a stand in LF near the team store, behind sections 168 and 169. It is located on an incline.

Get plenty of sleep or switch or whatever, I got no sleep before going from FSU to Tampa and I stopped for a bit a few times cause i was worried about falling asleep at the wheel

I just saw on Man vs. Food, he went to Oklahoma Joe's in KC. It is attached to a gass station. He said to try the burnt ends.

You could also try the Ultimate Destroyer at Papa Bob's in Bonner Springs, KS. Seems like it's 30 mins out of KC. He said it was the biggest sandwich in KC.

Pappys is great as is Ted Drew's in St Louis. If you have time and like Italian food, just about any spot on the hill will suffice. Across the MO river in St Charles, Trailhead is another good spot. If spending the night in the St Louis area, the outlying areas have better pricing than in St Louis itself.

If you leave the St Louis area during the morning and decide to stop for lunch, about 20-30 minutes before Columbia is a town called Fulton. There is a place called The Post Office that has good sandwiches and burgers.

In Albuquerque there is a Mexican restaurant named El Pinto, I highly recommend it. They make their own salsa and it is spectacular, make sure to buy some while you are in the area because you can't get it anywhere else. I make my parents send me some every couple of months.

Also, if you happen to be spending a night there, you should check out an Isotopes game, the stadium is beautiful and they are the AAA team for the Dodgers so it would make some sense...

If you haven't tried Toasted Ravioli before, that is another thing you can find in STL. I don't know if they would have any on The Hill, but if you can find an Imo's Pizza, they have some.

But yeah, you must visit the Hill. I have never been there, but a friend of mine from Chicago went there and said it was some of the best food he ever had.

Everyone's STL and KC recommendations are right on. I know you said BBQ, but Ted Drewes' frozen custard is the best ice cream/frozen custard I have ever had hands down, so if you like that sort of thing even a little bit, be sure to stop by while in St. Louis.

Enjoy the greatest baseball watching experience in the world at Busch Stadium!

Just got home. 46 total hours behind the wheel. Saw the baseball games. Checked out Gates and Oklahoma Joe's in Kansas. Tried Pappy's smokehouse in St. Louis. Missed out on the custard place. Thanks for all the recommendations, guys.

Toasted Ravioli was invented on the Hill, so I'd hope they would have some there

I told my wife (who was from Chicago) that everyone should try it once in their life so they know what they are missing. Here in St. Louis I feel the same way about "Chicago style" hot dogs and Italian beef sandwhiches. Most of us here have not had them because it isn't available anywhere in STL, but is on every corner in Chicago.

We make it a point to get some whenever we visit her family.
