Just had a Discectomy
and got home last night. Surgery is no joke I tell ya. I had a herniated disc and the doctor said it was a simple procedure and should be home by dinner time the day of the surgery. When he got in there he found it to be much worse than expected and was one of the more difficult discectomies he has done. I was on bed rest til 2 the next day and my first walk was very hard. I am at home now on vicodin and in some pain. I feel old for the first time. 38 is too young to feel like this. It will get better though. When rookie Randall Cobb was told by this U.S. Marine that he was a big fan of the wide receiver, Cobb said, “I think I’m a bigger fan of yours.”Tags: None -
Re: Just had a Discectomy
Good luck with recovery and hope it goes quickly for ya.I've heard this "patience is a virtue" junk all my life. I'm happy to say I have no virtue, no scruples, and no desire to wait too long for anything. In my humble opinion instant gratification takes too long!

Re: Just had a Discectomy
I feel your pain man, I recently had a microdysectomy....wish you the best
Dont get down on yourself and dont rush to do too much to quick...
Do EXACTLY as your Doc says...keep yourself down for those first 1 or 2 weeks, and once your cleared to walk, WALK. Its the best possible thing you can do.
I felt GREAT after my second week, it was really encouraging that the nagging pain was gone. I hope the same happens for you.
