Does a stay at home dad with an 8 month old who doesn't sleep through the night count? Oy! I am exhausted all the time. It's screwing with my body chemistry to the point I have gained a bunch of weight and it's causing health issues. Dating back to 2001 when I worked 3rd shift I can't sleep in the day. I worked a 17:30 to 3:30 shift and I slept well doing that one, but the third shift stuff sucked.

Re: Who else works night shift?
Did it for 8 months, wake up at 2am, or 3 am for work, get done around 11 every day go home sleep till 4:30-5pm be up till midnight. It was horrible, so glad I got a normal 7am shift job now. I was always tired, couldn't really get energy to do anything.PSN - SwangKang169

Re: Who else works night shift?
I did it for a little while after I got promoted and hated it. I would get off at 8am and by the time got home, showered, ate, etc, it would be about 10AM. I'd end up sleeping until about 10PM and would then have to get ready for work again. My body clock was just all screwed up. What made it more unbearable is that I don't work at a place where the midnight sifht is more calm/laid back. We run full force. After a little while, I moved to evenings, where I'm at at the moment, but am trying to work my way back to day shift.A screaming comes across the sky...Comment

When I worked at the hotel I worked the night shift. I liked it except I'm in the military and have mandatory appointments that I would have to wake up and go to. the biggest thing tho is my diet sucked because I would never go shopping for groceries so it was fast food all the time.Because I live in van down by the river...Comment

Re: Who else works night shift?
I worked nights for about a year. I enjoyed it. I'd rather do 3rd shift than 2nd shift I'll tell you that much!SOS Madden League (PS4) | League Archives

Re: Who else works night shift?
I work an on-call schedule about every 6 weeks which usually isn't too bad, I can get a few hours of sleep.
My first job was working a graveyard shift at a help desk. I usually did okay until around 3 AM then my body just wanted to shut down. It was also really hard to sleep during the day. The slightest noises woke me up: ice cream truck, kids playing, someone mowing their yard etc.Last edited by Polo Bandit; 05-31-2011, 09:47 AM.Comment

Depends on how old you are I guess. When I worked graveyard I was 22-25, it killed what little social life I had left.Comment

Re: Who else works night shift?
Worked 3rd shift for almost 7 years, I loved it cause it was quite and there wasn't too much hassle dealing with customers. It kinda killed my evening social time with friends but was worth it cause the money was good. After being out of the 3rd shift for almost 5 years I still find it fairly easy to get back to the staying up all night routine.I've heard this "patience is a virtue" junk all my life. I'm happy to say I have no virtue, no scruples, and no desire to wait too long for anything. In my humble opinion instant gratification takes too long!

Re: Who else works night shift?
I work nights and love it, even with a wife and 2 little ones. The only downfall is not being here at night with them, but I literally work like 5 minutes away.
I work 11PM to 7AM, come home, get the kids ready for daycare while she sleeps a bit longer, then they leave at 8:30. I sleep from probably 9ish until 4:30 or 5, then they get home at 6 (she works at the daycare they go to).
It's easy for me because I can actually sleep thanks to melatonin. It's an absolute lifesaver. I hated overnights at first because I kept waking up. Not anymore. Now admittedly, I don't feel quite as rested as I used to during days, but the promotion was worth it, and my wife is totally cool with dealing with both little ones at night (they are actually both pretty good sleepers, Alex is 3 years old, and Madison is 4 months old) in order for me to move up where I work. She's a keeper!
Plus, weekends rule. I stay up all day Friday (with some help from 5 hour energy), usually go golfing Friday morning, then have a normal weekend sleeping during the night. So I basically have a 3 day weekend while working 5 days, aside from taking a nap around 6PM Sunday night to get ready for the week.Comment
