    Sports injuries

If there is already a thread about this I apologize. Can't use search function on cell phone. What are you sports related injuries and how have they affected you over time. Either physically or mentally?

I have several. First one is broken collarbone. This was in middle school. Playing football. I start physical therapy for it tomorrow cause its still giving me problems and I never regained my strength.

Also broke my wrist in 2 place and dislocated it playing football. Required pins and physical therapy.

Also broke my two front teeth also playing football.

This will sound a lot more ballin' than it actually was, but I ruptured a tendon in my hand trying to dunk over a 6'7'' 320 pound former teammate in a pickup game back in '07. I never made it to the rim and actually clipped my legs on his upper torso, resulting in one of those funky, upside down falls.

I rehabbed the bejeez out of my hand out of fear that my digits would end up crooked and disfigured with less strength. The hand is definitely all good now, but it did take quite a long time to redevelop my willingness to try to dunk whenever possible. I found myself taking the safer route more often, especially when I lost my health insurance. I've slowly regained that guile though and I'd say I'm back status quo.

I did break my wrist on the court once too, but there were virtually no lasting effects, mentally or physically.

After I broke my wrist, I did research and I found out that increases the liklihood of arthritus a bunch so that's a bummer. And I'm left handed.

Oh man. Just reread your wrist details. My wrist injury definitely wasn't on your level. No pins, no dislocation, none of that.

I've gone in-depth before, but it's a heel injury that I've had since October, 2009. Can't play baseball, can't do ****. Just hoping and praying that, someday, it will magically be pain-free again.

Hairline fracture in my lower back, during football practice my freshman year in high school. I still played 2-3 more weeks with it, but when I could hardly stand for more than 5 minutes without my back locking up, I had to call it quits. However, I did play basketball and baseball that year, but that was rough.

Broke my toe while playing tennis, a couple hours before a baseball game too. Running around the bases with a broken toe is more painful than one would think.

Tore a couple pieces of cartilage out of my knee while playing tennis also... I had those pieces just floating around in my knee, and they would catch onto my knee-cap and could be quite painful. I had to move them around so it would be comfortable. I have had surgery twice on that knee since then.

This injuries sound like they really sucked. I have never been hurt yet while playing sports. Maybe that's one of the benefits of playing Goalie in Hockey and Volleyball

Hit just above the left eye socket by a thrown baseball from right field as I was sliding in to home plate in high school. (In the state semifinals, no less!)

Catcher totally missed the ball and it fractured the bone. Could have been a very scary situation but luckily there was no permanent damage. Just about every doctor told me how lucky I was.

I was safe, of course... so it's worth it

Torn ACL. After surgery and rehab it doesn't really effect me at all while playing sports. Knee does get sore after a lot of physical activity, and lately has been getting extremely sore afterwards, but it's usually fine by the next day.

Haven't had anything else that serious.

Torn meniscus in my left knee, played through it for almost a year apparently always just assumed it was a sore knee. Had a ton of pain that finally sidelined me a lot

Broke my left arm last game of season my 9th grade year. Broke my nose first game of 12th grade year.

Both basketball injuries. No rehab or anything. Arm cost me golf that season though.

Nose cost me about 3 minutes of PT and a trip to the Dr because it was freaking the teachers out at school. Never got it fixed, have a deviated septum now.

List goes on and on for myself. Due to massive over usage and my own stupidity I have been under the knife 4 times for various procedures. The damn thing just can't hold up anymore . If i try to throw a fraction of as hard as i used to my arm pretty much goes completely numb for 15-20 minutes. Have lost all accuracy in throws (played softball the other day missed the cut off man by a mile and this wasn't the first time) Hopefully one day i'll be able to throw like i used to. while i knew for a fact that i was never making the majors its depressing not being able to do something as well anymore

                          Re: Sports injuries

Well, I broke my shin on my right leg. Didn't know it was broken(how, I don't know) so I tried to sleep after some ice cream. It bruised some and I went to the doctor.

I've also dislocated my right elbow, but that isn't really serious.

Broke my right forearm. Was nasty, my arm looked like an S where the bone was completely broken.

I then broke my left wrist and growth plate. This put me out for months. Was in the 1st football game of the season, but I ended up missing baseball season too from it.

Then I fractured my right ankle in a baseball game when I had a collision with the base runner. I had moved to 1st base from 3rd because I hurt my arm on a throw(went numb and felt like hell every time I lifted it chest high). I ended up finishing the game(5-6 innings). I knew something felt wrong, but didn't want to be taken out. I even tried to steal a base with it, but was one step short of beating the throw. This injury caused me to get surgery and I missed the football season too, including playoffs, before I was cleared to do any activity.

I guess from baseball too, my right shoulder, which I throw with, hurts nearly every day right in the back and on top of it. Don't know what it is, but it's like a throb.

Broke my collarbone trying to tackle a RB that was 100lbs heavier than me.

By far the most pain ive ever had to endure.

Broke my wrist in high school football trying to brace myself for the fall after getting tackled. continued the game but i knew it was broke

Tore my ACL in a basketball game going up for a block. I heard three pops in my knee. The funny thing when we were reviewing the tape i jumped maybe 2 inches of the ground
