June 17, 1994
....was a crazy, crazy day. Can't believe it was 17 years ago. I was 7 but remember pretty much everything from that day.Tags: None -
Re: June 17, 1994
I drew a complete blank on the date until I searched it, almost feel bad about that but I remember it once I saw it.I've heard this "patience is a virtue" junk all my life. I'm happy to say I have no virtue, no scruples, and no desire to wait too long for anything. In my humble opinion instant gratification takes too long!

I only remember the date because I watched the 30/30 episode ESPN did last year. What a day and not just for OJ.
For those who didn't see it:

Absolute insanity. All those events, big deals by themselves, getting completely overshadowed by OJ. Just the sheer amount of **** that went on. Don't know if we'll ever see a sports day like that again.Comment

I remember watching it on TV with my mother and father. That was the first major TV event that I can remember in my lifetime. I was young so I knew OJ as the guy from Naked Gun. Not until watching the chase did I find out he was a Hall Of Famer.Comment

I remember how mad i was they kept interrupting the game as a 15 yr old i could care less about a police chase of a celebrity. As i think about as a 32 yr old i would have still been piss.Comment

Re: June 17, 1994
I remember watching the NBA Finals and enjoying the game and suddenly we get a split image screen of the Bronco chase and everything is going crazy. I then kept switching from the game to CNN and following every single aspect of the chase while the game was becoming more and more secondary to me.
It truly was one of the weirdest and craziest days of the entire decade of the '90s.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: June 17, 1994
Nowadays, it wouldn't even be that big of a thing. It was just the perfect storm of sports, media, and culture set at the perfect time.
I feel like they made more of a big deal out of the Arnold Palmer thing after the fact than it actually was at the time.
I was 12 at the time, BTW, and all I really remember is not understanding why this OJ guy driving around was such a big deal.Last edited by ImTellinTim; 06-17-2011, 11:53 AM.Comment
