Is smoking tobacco(hookah) for an underage kid illegal?

I was having an argument last night, i thought it was only illegal to buy tobacco, but i haven't heard or seen of any laws of smoking hookah while under the age of 18. If any knows the actual law please tell me, and im just wondering cause i like to smoke hookah.

We have a few hookah bars where i live. While i personally dont smoke hookah or tobacco, my brother does and you have to be 18 to enter the place.

Assuming you're asking about Arizona, I found this.

A person who knowingly sells, gives or furnishes cigars, cigarettes or cigarette papers, smoking or chewing tobacco, to a minor, and a minor who buys, or has in his possession or knowingly accepts or receives from any person, cigars, cigarettes or cigarette papers, smoking or chewing tobacco of any kind, is guilty of a petty offense.

Yes, it is not a criminal act but you can get a citation for use of tobacco if you are under 18.

Oddly in Alaska you have to be 19 to smoke.

I smoked for 13 years (quit cold turkey in January of 2006 and haven't had a single puff since) and smoking is the only thing I have ever done in my life that I truly regret.

Listen to Knight on this one. I started smoking when I was 14 and didn't quit until earlier in the year. I haven't felt or smelt better in forever. Truly is a disgusting habit and its a VERY expensive habit too.

You're not kidding, man.

When I started smoking a pack of cigarettes cost about $1.49 and when I quit they were about $3.19 and now I see them at the store for like $5.99 which is insane.

The last pack of Newports I bought came to $8 and change after tax. A pack a day and your looking at roughly 3 grand a year. Nice little summer vacation with that money.

Smoking hookah is not exactly smoking cigarettes. Yes it can be harmful as well, but you're not smoking a hookah more than once or twice a month whereas if you have a pack or two-pack habit, you're smoking an insane amount each and every day.

The hookah stuff is more of a social thing than anyway.

Cigarettes, yes (and I am a smoker)), but hookah is not as harmful and usually is a social thing. I would encourage you to try hookah and use in moderation if you enjoy it.

You can actually enter bars at any age here in NY, but you can't sit at the bar until your 18.
