    Sprained wrist

What an annoying injury. Anyone ever had one? Did it last Tuesday playing volleyball, noticed it right away, but it took until Thursday for it too hurt when I moved it. Is fine if I'm not using it in a weird way. Been icing it the last 4 days or so.

Is this the proper treatment since it's been a week?

How are you icing it? Just ice bag on the part that hurts?

Best way to ice an injury is to get a bucket, fill it with cold water and then ice.

Then soak your wrist in there for 30 min on, 30 min off.

I try to move my wrist while in the water to get the joints loosened up.

If it still hurts after a week, get it x-rayed.. you might have a fracture or something worst.

Keep icing it, take some Motrin, and if you can get one, get a wrist brace. But if it is just a sprain ice and motrin and should do the job. Also try to avoid strenuous activity or sudden movements with your wrist./

Do you have full range of motion and can you put pressure on it? If yes to both of those then it is most likely not a fracture. But if any pain or swelling does not decrease after a week or so I suggest seeing a Doctor as they will take x-rays to rule out a fracture and most likely give you a wrist brace.

A bit off-topic but I broke my right wrist/right forearm when I was 12. To this day I still have pain in my wrist, that feels like it is sprained. It doesn't happen everyday. The pain usually presents every 3 months and last anywhere from 1-3 weeks. But it hurts to turn a doorknob, open a bottle, etc. I usually take Mortin daily and try not to do any strenuous activity like lifting weights to minimize the pain but it sucks and is annoying.
