    NHL replica jersey question

Are there any better quality replicas anywhere other than the ones through nhl.com?

I have been wanting to order a Blackhawks jersey but want a name on the back (already have a blank one), so I was looking on the site and the authentic ones are nice but way too expensive, the replicas are still not cheap but I don't like the fact the names/numbers are screen printed.

Wouldn't screen printing come off pretty quickly if you wash it? Anyone have any experience with these.

I could be imagining things but I'm almost positive the replicas used to have stitched on names/numbers at one point (like MLB replicas do), does a screen printed NHL jersey look ok or would I be better suited just sticking with a blank? If the screen print is what I'm thinking it is (just the shiny name/number like on NFL replicas) I just can't see that looking good on an NHL jersey, not for the amount you're spending anyway.

    Thanks for any input.

    Re: NHL replica jersey question

I always thought that the replicas had stitched numbers and names too. I don't think I can remember seeing screen printing on a hockey jersey, and I think it would look really cheap on one. I have an Urlacher that I've had for a few years, and the screen printed numbers have degraded considerably. But even that doesn't look that bad IMO. But a hockey jersey - especially if the front logo is embroidered - wouldn't not age nearly as well. The front would still look nice and clean, but the back would be faded.

I own 3 hockey jerseys. They are all replicas, and one (my Forsberg Sweden jersey) has stitched name and numbers on the back. It's a Nike, and is about 12 years old. Still going strong too. The other two are nameless NHL (A Hawks and a Wild). The Hawks jersey is about 18 years old and the Wild jersey about 4.

The thing about spending a lot of money on a hockey jersey with stitching is that it lasts FOREVER. You actually do get what you pay for. The only thing you have to worry about is player movement.

Who are you thinking of going with?

That is the ultimate question, if I go replica I'm really not that concerned with player movement, sure $130 or whatever it is isn't cheap but I can live with a player who I like enough to buy their jersey moving on.

If I go authentic (more likely due to the fact like you said you get what you pay for with the stitching) I want someone who will be there for a long long long time.

So if I can find a site with stitched replicas I would really like a Bolland jersey, but if I go authentic (don't want to but refuse to buy a screen printed) it will probably be Toews since hes the safest bet to be around forever IMO.

Awesome! They do have stitched replica's, bit pricier but well worth it and still significantly cheaper than the authentics.

Have you ordered from icejerseys before? Just curious as I've never heard of the site before, if so how have your experiences been with them?

I saw it on an avs forum. Someone was looking for Erik Johnson's jersey and a poster posted that site. I checked it out and wasn't bad. I guess you can check out Rivercitysports as well.

Good deal. I'm grabbing a Johnson jersey since that is my last name, it will never go out of style for me
