Re: Extreme couponing - I'm becoming one of "those people"
Being someone who has to deal with Extreme Couponers daily, I cannot stand them. Everytime I see someone walk into the store with a huge binder, I know damn well that in about three hours when they're finally done scouring the store for all their specials, they will have me paged to the front because they were shorted 23 cents.
On Sunday we had one break down in tears accusing us of stealing her money. She wouldn't leave until we threatened to call the police.
I had someone else tell me that she saw us throw the old Sunday papers in the trash outside and wanted to know if she could climb in the dumpster to get the coupon inserts.
Coupons are great when used right, but no one reads the exclusions nor understands the rules. People are taking it way too far. But I guess whatever floats your boat.Co-Commish of the OS Vets I & II

Re: Extreme couponing - I'm becoming one of "those people"
My wife and I have seen every episode of the show so far. What gets me are the people that have a stockpile of diapers, wipes, and pet food when they don't even have any kids or pets. Foolishness. if you practically get them for free anyway give them to the needy.Comment

I want to try extreme couponing so bad. Not to the lengths that some people go through, but saving $25 dollars each time I go grocery shopping would be awesome.

Re: Extreme couponing - I'm becoming one of "those people"
Me and my wife have watched the show a couple of times, and we came to the conclusion that the people on the show are nothing more than hoarders. I saw one lady buy 80 bottles of mustard then stashed her collection of skid under her families beds. It can be useful, but when you start sacrificing your living space for food and paper materials, then it becomes a sickness.GO COLTS

Re: Extreme couponing - I'm becoming one of "those people"
My girlfriend is starting to get into this, but with her will and determination she'll likely give up soon.
I have yet to see the fruits of her labor, I see piles of coupons scattered around her personal room.

Re: Extreme couponing - I'm becoming one of "those people"
Why don't people donate all of the stuff that is more than they can use to a food pantry or other charitable organization? And why aren't those organizations using extreme couponing themselves? Or are they?
It just irritates me to watch that show and see a family sitting on a thousand boxes of cereal, 500 cans of soup and all of this other crap when there are hundreds of thousands of people in this country that don't have anything to eat at all.Ryan Spencer

It bothers me too though when a family is sitting on 100 2-litre bottles of soda and 100 boxes of cereal...the shelf life on those things will expire way before they are ever consumed.
To me the point of coupons is to save on things that I was already going to buy (or a similar product). If I save $1.00 on a $2.00 item that I previously had not planned to buy or don't typically buy, then in reality I am not saving $1.00, I am spending an extra $1.00 than I would have had I not had the coupon.
Also, from the few times I've watched, it seems like these people load up on mostly unhealthy stuff when it comes to the products...it's always frozen pizzas, fruit rollups, hot pockets, soda, sugary cereal, etc. Sure you are saving money, but your kids are going to be huge in a few years.Comment
