Also, from the few times I've watched, it seems like these people load up on mostly unhealthy stuff when it comes to the products...it's always frozen pizzas, fruit rollups, hot pockets, soda, sugary cereal, etc. Sure you are saving money, but your kids are going to be huge in a few years.
Good points. I actually read a blog post on the healthiness of the food issue. It's true, there aren't a lot of coupons to be had out there for fresh meat, produce, etc. It's all candy, chips, soda, and the like.

I saw one episode where a family had so much food that they had to use their young child's toy chest and storage and had boxes of cereal crammed under their kid's beds.

It just kind of made me laugh.

Not sure if I'd go as far as calling it hoarding, but it does seem a bit much sometimes.

My biggest gripe is the same as most everyone else. I think the issue of buying hundreds of boxes of cereal and 85 bottles of mustard is what's crazy. I think eventually, stores will really limit the coupons that people can use because in this economy, this show has created a monster.

I think coupon use is great, but in most everything in life, over-doing it is never a good thing.

          I don't know.

Mmmm, processed food hoarding / savings. If you value your personal time, extreme couponing is a net loss. Sure you saved some bucks, but you wasted a few hours per week of your life that you're never getting back.

Some of these people are saving a few hundred dollars a week. If they are only spending a few hours, I don't see that as a net loss....especially if you are clipping coupons while watching TV or something that they would normaly be doing anyways.

If someone spends 2 hours cutting coupons every week and saved $10 or $15 then you have a point, but that's not what extreme couponing is about.

Regarding the processed foot hoarding...from what I've seen of the show, I agree...I don't really consider it a win if you are saving money, but in return you are stocking your freezer and shelves with pop-tarts, pepsi and frozen pizzas.

Unfortunately, that's really the only way these people can "win". Everything else would spoil or sit in a freezer for months before they got around to using it.

The only coupons I use are for Football season. If all your groceries are bought on coupon, chances are your diet is unhealthy. Do stores give out credit as cash?

There are plenty of coupons for healthy foods you guys. I spend about 3 to 5 hours a week and I think its worth it as I do it while watching tv anyways so its not lost time to me. Plus I'm unemployed so time is not money to me.

Maybe use that TV and cutting coupon time to find a job?

I've seen the show a few times. I just don't understand some of the people hoarding diapers, wipes etc. when they don't have kids. At least donate the stuff to charity. Your giving to people that need it, plus it's a tax write off.

If anything I think it's making fun of myself more than boosting my self esteem. Look at the title, LOL.
