I'd sell it to whoever offers me the most within a 2wk span. If Jeter wants it that bad then he will at least write me a million $ check for it.

Re: Lets say you were struggling...
Didn't the Yankees put a price tag on the ball beforehand? I think I read it was $250,000.
The fan did a great thing. I guess if you love your team and don't need the money, giving the ball back without expecting compensation is cool. The Yankees did a good thing by offering him the sweet tickets for the remainder of the year.
I'd sell the ball and would not feel bad about it. The team was already expecting to cut a check.
I think anyone who says that they would give the ball back if they were struggling financially are kidding themselves... If I am struggling and catching a ball will ensure that my family eats for the next five or 10 years, you better believe I'm selling it.Comment

I'd sell it. I have no obligation to a bunch of millionaires playing a game for a living.Comment

Re: Lets say you were struggling...
Forget that crap. I would have asked for an autographed baseball, autographed baseball and money. 50 years from now that stuff autographed stuff would have been worth millions.
I mean remaining suite tickets for the rest of the season is worth what ? $15,000 ? Big rip off.Comment

Re: Lets say you were struggling...
You give the ball back because it is the honorable thing to do.
Sell a ball or a bat now to make a little money to help you financially, and hold onto the other memorabilia and sell it when you're ready to retire.
This guy won in every possible fashion. He did the honorable thing, he has season tickets for the rest of the year, he has the ability to make some money now, and he has a retirement plan.Comment

Re: Lets say you were struggling...
I guess if we are talking 250,000 I'd sell it, but I don't buy that you could get anywhere close to that. I could be wrong.

Re: Lets say you were struggling...
Yeah, I just don't see how people think a few bats/jerseys/balls signed by a future hall of fame member are going to fetch over 250+.
The original offer NOT from the Yankees (I believe it was a well-renowned memorabilia collector) was 250. Could've easily gotten 300+ from Jeter and the Yankees. Hell no I'm not giving the ball back for free for some signed ****. I can buy a signed jersey from Ebay or a collector's shop for a couple of hundred bucks.Comment

Re: Lets say you were struggling...
I forgot what the link was (I think someone posted a link to the article in the 3,000 hit thread) but the offer PRE-HIT was that if anyone gets ahold of Jeter's 3000th hit, the guy would've given them 250k.Comment
