I live right inside where the 10 and the 405 meet, and they've had reminder signs up since the 4th. I'm so glad I walk to work.

      Re: Carmaggedon

The 405 is the worst freeway in the nation

This is will make sure that the city is in complete gridlock between the square mileage area no question

I live near LAX which is really a good 20 minutes max with no traffic (never happens) from this area...but let someone find something to rubberneck on and it turns into up to an 1 1/2 drive easily

Sorry fellas this one aint a video game... Its enough to make someone go on a road rage spree

You see it all this way, i saw 2 BMWs in the middle of the freeway one more, one was on its back on top of the other one. I have no idea how they accomplished that, especially the fact that youre only moving about 5mi per hour when driving

Job is dismissing at 3pm for it..im not touching that, i will be calling in to work from home that day

Dont even want to get started on the texters

        Well, two things (three actually):

        - We might be going to San Diego on Thursday night to see the Padres play the Giants. I know that won't yet be the weekend, but my mom is the most paranoid of the bunch, which is what caused me concern (and is also the third thing).

        - The problem is not 405, it's what is around 405, and my hotel is right off of it. The traffic obviously won't be on what is the closed freeway, it will be on every road around it. Plus, we'll be traveling all around the area the entire weekend.

No, but Santa Ana is. 405 is just south of it. Any which way I go toward San Diego, there will be traffic surrounding it.

I just don't see it being that bad in mid/South OC. They've given plenty of warning about it, so unless you're between LAX and Northridge, it should be mostly avoidable. The local traffic will be diverted onto Sepulveda and into the Mulholland area, or into Santa Monica and Brentwood. Those areas will be a nightmare, but I don't see I-5, or anywhere South of LAX being any worse than normal. Then again, I'm probably being too optimistic that people around here actually pay attention to the reports, and make plans to avoid driving. Every time I tell people that my wife and I walk to work, I get blank stares.

Gee, it would really suck to live two miles away from the bridge that's being blown up.

                  Oh, wait.

So, this was supposed to be such a huge thing that it is even receiving coverage on the 11:00 news in Pittsburgh. Actually, what's receiving coverage is the fact that all those fears they were talking about apparently failed to materialize.

We have carmaggedon every year. It's called summer. Where there is road construction everywhere you try to go.

                        No pity party here.
