Maybe it's generational, but I think jokes, comics or not, need to be universally funny. 75% of the population probably doesn't get that. It's like the old Steve Martin bit....

It depends on how many people play video games. It's a video game joke. If you could only tell a joke that 75% of people understood then you wouldn't have many jokes left.

I don't disagree when you're within your own circles.... anecdotal humor is great. I think when you are more public, more general appeal would make sense as you're trying to "entertain" a larger audience.

Ok...off to find more plumber jokes.....
