To get a number of a girl ive known long enough I usually ask what they did that weekend. And then regardless of what they say I tease them about not inviting me to it, and then they give me **** about not having my number which leads to a numbers exchange. They dont even know what ****ing happened. And by some miracle it comes off as charming?

You could also do the old asking for the number straight up thing. But thats not nearly as fun.

And just leave it at that. If she answers WITH a phone number you're in, if she doesn't respond with a number, well, there ya go. I'd normally say ask her in person as well, but going to her workplace and doing it is a bad idea... it can be embarrassing for her, and it can be extremely awkward (for both of you) if people are around or she's busy and distracted. Besides, that also assumes you know her work schedule... which if she's never given it to you, is slightly creepy. Hell, you'd be better off just calling her at work (which is actually how I asked my fiancee out the first time). At least those phone numbers are public knowledge and it's not implying that you're following her around. That's still risky though for some of the work reasons I stated above... my fiancee and I worked for the same company, so I was more comfortable with the rules on phone calls at work, etc.
this... it's an easy casual way to put the ball back in her court and find out if their is any interest without really sticking your neck out too far.
