How do I peel a Fathead from its backing?

I got a Fathead Batman wall sticker for my stepsons, but I'm having trouble peeling it off. Do you only peel off the sticker part, or do you peel something off the entire square it's on? It's not peeling off smoothly, and fathead.com doesn't say anything except peel it off. I don't want to mess up a $100 present I got for these guys.

I went around the edge of the whole thing with a knife. I found that the decal itself was sticking to the rest of the mat that it was a part of (not totally cut). Once I did that, peeling off was much easier.

Why in the hell would a sticker that costs $100 be that difficult to apply? Sounds like somebody at Fathead is a fathead.

I put a few out in my garage/weightroom..... Big mistake, the heat made them come off the wall and the fathead attached to itself and now is pretty much ruined.

Yeah, unfortunately one of my two have fallen down. I'm thinking of putting a few pins in key spots to keep it from happening again...
