Increasing number of "texting" postages around here?

Is it me or does it seem like there are an increasing number of posters who type like they're texting everyone. I'm sure I'm guilty of sticking in a word or two that is shorthand, but the continual lack of punctuation, capital letters, reasonable grammar. It's very annoying to the reader. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think so. I think it's a function of younger and younger members joining who are being bred to communicate this way. It just doesn't look intelligent.

This isn't a formal document so why should I go so hard with my punctuation? I try my best to be clear and grammatically correct, but some time I juss don want to ya feel meh playah;?

I haven't seen the increase you're talking about. It's more prevalent in some forums (see: NCAA 12 forum) then in others, and has been since I joined. I think it has to do with posters who recently joined, just trying to get the information they need, and not worrying about how they post.

Overall, OS has far less "texting" posts then any other message board I've come across.

Every time that Madden releases, they start coming out of the woodwork as well.

I do think it's a function of them typing off the computer, though. If I'm on Meebo with another member, I won't worry about capitalization or punctuation. I do think there is entirely another precedent on the message boards themselves, though. I wish there was some way to enforce it.

The primary reason would be so that you are taken seriously. Proper grammar and punctuation helps when someone is trying to read what has been written. Many times consecutive punctuation errors stall a reader and it then makes it more challenging to stay focused on what is written.

Well there's an increasing number of posters posting from phones and other portable devices, so I'm sure that has some to do with it.

I like typing longhand. Text speech is really annoying to me. But its more annoying if you use it in real life converstaions.

I don't know if it's increasing or not, but I do notice them more than grammatically correct posts. I can't stand the "texting" way of typing. Hell, even when I text I type full words and use punctuation. I cannot take someone who types in shorthand seriously and I completely gloss over any point they're trying to make.
