Re: Gamestop in Trouble?
Everytime i'd go in there to purchase a game or controller, i'm bombarded with a million questions. I just want to buy this game and that's it.
No need to pre-order games. Ive never seen a shortage in any game that i buy on release day.PSN: buckeye02Comment

Re: Gamestop in Trouble?
There was a time i bought all my games at gamestop and spent quite a bit of time in their stores. I havent stepped foot in a gamestop in years. It is just too easy to buy my games at K-Mart (great deals there) or Wal-Mart. No one bugs me with 50 questions or tries to get me to buy 15 other games that i dont wont.
I never understood the practice of pre ordering games. You want me to go ahead and give you $60 bucks a month before a game comes out when on the day it comes out i can simply walk into any store and buy it?
I think i will keep the $60 in my savings account and let it draw interest. Why would i give anyone money early when i can wait till release day and buy it???
Gamestop must be ran by a bunch of idiots as they have lost a ton of customers.ND Season Ticket Holder since '72.Comment

Re: Gamestop in Trouble?
I have never liked GameStop for the fact that they open all their games. Just makes me feel like I'm buying a used game for full price.
Not to mention they give you pennies for your used games and usually sell them for like $10 cheaper than the new retail goes for....

I don't like gamestop and their practices. That's why I shop at Best Buy.

Re: Gamestop in Trouble?
Is Best Buy really that much better? They try to sell people $50 HDMI cables when they know damn well it's the exact dame as a $3 cable.
I'm starting to sound like a GS apologist, but in their defense you only have to put $5 down. There was a time i bought all my games at gamestop and spent quite a bit of time in their stores. Re: Gamestop in Trouble?
The last year and a half, I have gone the Best Buy route for my games. Gamestop is annoying as hell when they sell a newly released used game $5 less than a new game. Best Buy charges $39.99 for a newly released traded in game. Talk about total markup. Even Gamefly charges around $45 if you decide to keep a new game you just rented, which is way cheaper than Gamestop's practices. Then Gamestop rips you off with their trade in values when compared to Best Buy and other online outlets.I have never liked GameStop for the fact that they open all their games. Just makes me feel like I'm buying a used game for full price.

Oh well, I was once an EB employee when there was competition between both companies which offered good prices for customers.Comment

Re: Gamestop in Trouble?
Gamestop works for me when they are giving the extra 50% on trade ins or buy 2 get 1 free on used games.
Also the 7 day return policy on used games is nice. Saved me a bunch of money with my son - when he buys a game, plays it for 20 minutes and says he don't like it.
I wont go for that either. Usually I'm buying older used games that Gamestop.Last edited by Pete1210; 08-25-2011, 08:16 AM.Comment

Re: Gamestop in Trouble?
I heard they started to limit that. They finally caught on that people were using them as a rental service and getting games they knew they wouldn't keep.Comment

I like Best Buy for the rewards card and that it's a nice clean store. They may sell expensive HDMI cables but that doesn't effect my game buying experience. I've never had a problem with them. I buy all of my electronics through them. It also helps I have a store credit card lol.

Re: Gamestop in Trouble?
I feel the same way. If I'm shelling out $60 for a game I want to be the one to remove it from the plastic and take it out of the case for the first time. I purchased NBA 2K8 from them a few years back and the guy pulled the game out of a disc sleeve that was in a drawer behind the register and put it in the original box. When I got home the thing had scratches and fingerprint smudges all over it. I took it back and the clerk thought I was crazy for asking for an unopened one and he kept trying to tell me it was the same game that I already had. Duh......I just wanted a BRAND NEW one that wasn't scratched, naturally. Finally the manager came out and handed me one that hadn't been opened. I haven't shopped at that one since.I have never liked GameStop for the fact that they open all their games. Just makes me feel like I'm buying a used game for full price.
