    Poked in the eye

Ok...I was playing some basketball today and drove to the hoop. As I was going up I got caught in the eye. Due to my dedication, I closed my eye and finished the layup barely, but went down afterwards. I've been poked in the eye before but this felt not so good.

Usually I regain my focus after about 2-3 minutes, but I couldn't focus or see right out of the eye for the rest of the game, it took about 45 minutes. I was waiting with my friends for a ride afterwards and one of them told me to look to my right. So I looked and they both turned away in disgust. They said it looked like my eye was bleeding. Immediately after that I felt a terrible burning sensation in the corner of my eye and it teared up.

I just got home and tried to take a look at it without hurting myself too much. It looks like a bursted blood vessel maybe, I didn't get a clear look but it does look like it's bleeding up in there. What should I do?

I did some googling and it said that they usually go away within a week or two and it's usually just a cosmetic thing. But my eye randomly tears up and when it does it burns worse than reading the Madden forum on release day. I don't really have doctor money so if anybody has any suggestions or tips, holla back young'ns.

Personally, I'd go to the doctor, especially if you're still having trouble seeing. You might not have the money, but eyes are something that I wouldn't take risks with.

Sounds like you either have a cut or abrasion on the skin around your eye or eyelid, or it could be a scratched cornea.

      Good luck.

Scratched or detached retina, like Amare had.

        Go get it checked.

Rub some dirt on it, tape and aspirin to, and suck it up buttercup. Get yourself to the doctor, you don't want to screw around with your eyes.

I came into this thread looking to make an easy joke based on the title, but now I'm legitimately concerned. Get that fixed, brotha.

Pretty sure it's not that. I can see fine. It's the corner of my eye, it's barely visible looking at me straight on.

But on top of it all, I just got stung by a bee in bdubs... Wtfff

It sounds like a scratch or abrasion on your eye. My nephew poked me in the eye and I thought it would heal on it's own after a while. After a couple days of it not getting better I ended up going to the eye doctor and it was a scratched cornea. I don't wish that upon anyone. My eye hurt and teared up almost nonstop for 2 days. It felt like something was constantly in there. It sucked.

This happened a few months ago and I am still putting this ointment(doctor's orders) in my eye before I go to bed.

                      Re: Poked in the eye

Ouch, sounds pretty nasty. Do you have any of those walk-in emergency clinic type things around you (I forget what they're actually called), you could at the very least go to one of those. Sounds like at most you have corneal abrasion and perhaps a lacerated tear duct opening.

I've never been poked in the eye, but I did take a jet of pressurized water to the eye once and that didn't feel to good. I had just finished running on the indoor track at college way back when I was an undergrad and went to get a drink. However, in a momentary lapse, I forgot that that fountain had high pressure (the amount of water pressure depended on how hard you pressed the button) presumably so people could wet their hair when they were done so I leaned my head in and firmly pressed the button only to have the water jet up and hit me square in the right eye. I stood there with both hands over my eye for a couple minutes waiting for it to stop hurting, but it didn't do any damage and after a few minutes I went on with my excercise routine.

Yup, I've felt this too. I got a metal tipped pen chucked right at my eye and it was painful for about a week. It literally feels like an eyelash stuck in your eyes, but you can never get out.

Anyways it wouldn't hurt to go to the eye doctors. You may have scratched your eye and you might not want to get it infected. I wouldn't want to know how that would feel.

                          Re: Poked in the eye

I had a burst blood vessel in my eye after a crazy night and a bunch of dry heaving. It looked pretty nasty, but I don't think my vision was impaired since it was quite a while ago. As long as it's not getting worse, the dark red blood patch should go away in the next couple of weeks. Definately go see a doctor if you don't see any improvement.

Until then, I was suggest investing in some new goggles and maybe some matching shorts for the next time you play ball.

Its probably not a detatched retina, but I agree with the second part

                            Go get it checked.

Dont play around w\ your eyes man, it could be the difference in retaining or losing eyesight. I detatched my retina, and if I wouldnt have gone in the next day, I couldve gone blind in that eye.

Your example doesnt sound that bad, but bettter safe than sorry.

I'm still procrastinating. Seems to be getting better. Only stings a little when it tears up, it's not too bad. I can see fine right now as well. My friends said it didn't look as bad as it did.
