I don't usually do this sort of things, but..

I don't usually do this sort of thing and I'm not going to lie, I'm not the most religious person out there, but if any of you pray or do anything of the nature, please keep my grandfather in your' thoughts.

He's having a really rough time in the hospital and things don't look good at all. He's had a few open heart surgeries in his lifetime, but he had a pacemaker put in last week. He originally went in because he was having problems breathing and they determined he needed the pacemaker.

After a few days out of surgery, his vitals seemed okay, but he really continued to feel bad at home and didn't do anything except lay in the bed (which is really unusual of him). At about 5am yesterday he had another light heart attack (just days after getting the pacemaker) and they had to rush him back to the hospital in Birmingham. He's back in there now and they ran all the tests again and checked the pacemaker and the doctors seemed confused as to what was going on.

Overnight, he had another heart attack and things just don't look good. The doctors have told my grandmother that his heart is so weak now that it's not functioning properly enough to run all of his vital organs and they are trying to shut down. He's had problems breathing, using the bathroom, etc. and it just doesn't look good.

The doctors say the hospital is the best place for him to be right now, but they don't expect him to make it out of the hospital this time. They don't know for sure and it could be days, weeks, months, etc. but things really just don't look good this time.

This is really devastating to my family and my Mom is having a hard time with it (she tries to hide it, but I know it's tearing her up).

I'm hoping it's not his time to go and there's something that can be done. He's at one of the best hospitals in the state and SouthEast.

I'm not looking for any special attention or anything, I just want to get the word out so he can get as many prayers as possible to help pull him through this.

I'd like to think I am a pretty religious person. I'll keep you, your grandfather, and your family and friends in prayer.
        Edit: Praying as i write..

                    I'll co sign to this...

My Grandmother is 102 (yes, 102) and has finally hit the "decline" stage that meant nursing home / hospice care...

She could hang on for anywhere from a few months to another year or so, but her clock has finally begun ticking...

It's going to me as tough on my Mom as it will be someday for me, when it's my mother's turn...

These things have a "domino effect" on the entire extended family...everything shifts / changes...

                    Hang in there!!!

Same here... I am not religious, but I am spiritual. And I do believe in that if you are good and true to people, it pays off in the long run. Thus my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family as well.

I just got home from work and talked to my mom, she's been over there in Birmingham the entire day. She said they hooked him up to the dialyzes machine about 4pm today to try to filter his blood to help his kidneys.

She said they saw him today and he was sitting up in the bed and looking better than she has seen him in days and he was starving (finally has some sort of appetite, so they got him some ice cream and he hate a bunch of that. His blood pressure and heart rate are closer to normal, but at this point it's still hard to tell how things are going to go.

She's on her way home, after being at the hospital for the past 24 hours wit my grandmother and I'm going to go back with her in the morning, before work to see him.

Fish, he was originally at St. Vincents, but now he's back closer to Jasper at Princeton. It's still wayy better than any kind of help he can get here in Jasper. I absolutely hate our hospital.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

Great news that he is sitting up and has an appetite.
